Tom Hanks’ son, Chet Hanks, punched a man who tried to break into his LA home.
The 33-year-old actor had to take quick action after encountering the alleged burglar around 3am on Monday.
LA County Sheriff’s Office officers rushed to the scene where they attempted to handcuff the 42-year-old suspect.
But a chaotic arrest ensued after he tried to fight back and ran into a deputy, leaving him with a broken leg, TMZ reports.
Both the officer and the suspect were then taken to hospital for treatment.

The suspect tried to fight back during his arrest and ultimately broke a police officer’s leg when he stumbled backwards and fell on him.
After being medically cleared, the individual was charged with burglary. Hanks escaped unharmed.
The case will now be turned over to the LA County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.

Aspiring rapper Hanks is no stranger to conflict. During his latest feud, he became embroiled in a war of words with comedian Eric Andre after the TV host called him out on his behavior while appearing on an episode of his show.
Andre, 39, went on to call him “dangerous and emotionally disturbed” and claim he “stole a motorcycle” while filming the Eric Andre show in an explosive interview with Rolling Stone.
In retaliation, Hanks called him a ‘f****** liar’ and a ‘p****’ in his own foul-mouthed rant that he shared online.
The aspiring rapper was also accused of physical and psychological abuse by his ex-girlfriend Kiana Parker, who filed a civil suit against him.
The lawsuit said Hanks pushed and grabbed Parker, threatened to commit a murder-suicide and labeled her a “ghetto black b****” who would not be believed.

The abuse occurred while Parker’s 9-year-old twins were at home, the documents allege.
Hanks’ attorneys labeled the legal action a “shakedown,” claiming it was in response to a lawsuit his client filed last month alleging Parker attacked him with a pot, causing blood to flow from a wound on his forehead flowed.
Hanks is the son of legendary Hollywood actor Tom Hanks, 67, and his wife Rita Wilson.
