Tom Cruise’s secret FURY at shocking Olympics jump – as 62-year-old ignores ‘worrying’ pleas to scale back on death-defying stunts over fears for his life

Hollywood legend Tom Cruise secretly fought with producers over his death-defying stunt at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics. Insiders say his entourage wants to put a stop to his passion for increasingly risky stunts at the age of 60 at all costs.

The 62-year-old A-list actor shocked the world after jumping from the roof of the Stade de France during an extravagant handover ceremony to Los Angeles in the French capital on Sunday night.

For the spectacle, which took 18 months to prepare for, Tom jumped from a ledge in a harness in front of thousands of fans and Olympians.

According to insiders, Tom fell out with bosses behind the scenes because he claimed the safety lines were preventing him from diving down faster. They were right to be concerned for his life.

“Tom helped create this stunt and said he had to do something that had never been done before,” they told DailyMail.com.

‘He got into an argument with the producers about his safety line, which was clearly visible. He felt that the jump was not believable enough because of it and that he did not fall down as quickly as he wanted.

‘Those close to him strongly advised him against taking the plunge and told him that he really had to stop performing so many life-threatening stunts.

“It’s one thing when he’s shooting a movie, but now this stunt at the Olympics — it’s incredibly disturbing.”

The source added that there are fears that one of his stunts could ultimately backfire and he could be seriously injured or even die.

They said, ‘Tom knows the risks and he doesn’t care. He refuses to back down. He truly believes he is bigger than life.

Part of his conviction has to do with the fact that he is one of the biggest action movie stars of all time.

“Part of it is his Napoleon complex and also the fact that he’s pretty much a demigod in his religion. But he’s not 25 anymore – not even 35 or 45.”

Tom is no stranger to daring stunts.

From jumping off buildings to fighting with samurai swords and climbing mountains without ropes, he has always insisted on performing his own stunts.

Just a month ago, he was spotted hanging from the side of a plane while filming scenes for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie.

In 2010, he dangled nearly 2,700 feet (820 meters) from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, for the fourth Mission: Impossible film.

However, not all of his stunts went smoothly. In 2017, he was injured in a failed jump over a building during the filming of Mission: Impossible 6 in London.

Video footage then emerged showing the famous actor making a giant leap from a rigging to a roof while strapped into a harness, only to have his jump fail and him crash into the side of a building, breaking his ankle.

Tom prepared for his abseiling stunt on Sunday evening, while Paris 2024 organiser Tony Estanguet thanked everyone for their ‘contribution’ to the Games.

As HER sang the American national anthem and played her guitar, Tom entered the stadium.

Once safely back on the ground, the Mission Impossible star greeted several fans as he made his way through the crowd. In a viral moment, one of the women even tried to kiss him on the cheek.

He was then presented with the Olympic flag with the five rings by gymnast Simone Biles and the mayor of Los Angeles, which he then placed on the engine of a waiting motorcycle.

Dressed in his trademark black leather Top Gun jacket, the action hero then rode out of the arena standing on top of his vehicle.

The crossing to the other side of the Atlantic began with live performances by California-born Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg on Venice Beach.

The day before Tom’s big stunt, executive producer and creative director Ben Winston told Vogue that the masterpiece had taken more than a year to create, and at times he worried they would never pull it off.

“We’ve been working on this for a year and a half and we had this idea that it would be so great if we could take the flag from the stadium in Paris and bring it to Los Angeles and put it live and create something spectacular here,” he said.

“LA is known for its beaches. We thought, what if we could steal that flag, bring it to LA and do a big, amazing concept on the beach with all these amazing artists from LA?”

Ben talked about how dedicated Tom is to his work. He told how the actor was in London filming Mission Impossible. He got on an 11-hour flight to LA, filmed the Olympics video, and then got back on the plane to the film set.
