Tom Cruise’s latest project is revealed days after he teased it on social media

One of Tom Cruise’s next films is a science fiction thriller called Deeper.

The 62-year-old Hollywood vet — whose ex-wife Nicole Kidman just stunned on the red carpet — will star in 59-year-old director Doug Liman’s upcoming project, which is in early development. Term.

In a caption to his 13 million Instagram followers, he wrote: “The training and preparation we put into this film is the culmination of everything that came before it. From the depths to the sky, I can’t wait to share more with you.”

In the plot of Deeper, an astronaut is confronted by a terrifying force during a deep dive into an unknown canal.

Before the film was released via Warner Bros. Studios ended up in the hands of Liman, it was produced at MGM in 2016.

Bradley Cooper was set to appear as the lead character and Kornél Mundruczó was on board to direct.

Another fruitless attempt at the feature film had Idris Elba in the lead role, while Baltasar Kormákur was set to direct.

If the third iteration becomes a reality, it will mark the third or fourth collaboration for Tom and Doug, whose previous projects include Edge of Tomorrow and American Made.

The duo are also currently working on bringing a NASA film to life, which could be shot in space in partnership with SpaceX.

On November 11, Tom appeared online again to promote the successor to Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.

Uploading a trailer, he wrote to his fans: “Our lives are the sum of our choices. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. See you in theaters on May 23, 2025.’
