Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick blockbuster sequel is headed to stream on Paramount+

Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, the highest-grossing film of 2022, will stream on Paramount+ from December 22.

The streaming release date puts the hit in homes for viewers to enjoy during the holiday season.

Cruise’s recent blockbuster surpassed $1.4 billion in worldwide sales, making it Paramount Pictures’ highest-grossing film ever and entering the top 10 list of films of all time.

The film, directed by Joseph Kosinski, is the 12th film in history to ever cross the $600 million mark at the domestic box office.

This is the first time in Cruise’s long career that one of his films has made more than $1 billion.

The sequel follows Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) after more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators.

Maverick is where he belongs, pushing the limits as a courageous test pilot, dodging the promotion in rank that would ground him.

Cruise and the Top Gun cast underwent months of flight training to prepare for their roles, while taking to the skies for the scenes themselves.

Serious training: Cruise was the pilot of many aircraft used during the film and even directed and filmed his own scenes as he piloted the plane and adjusted his own camera for himself with no room in the cockpit for director’s assistance

Actually flying: Miles Teller and the rest of the cast underwent months of flight training in preparation for their roles, while taking to the skies themselves for the scenes

Tom wasn’t allowed to fly an actual F-18 jet, but he was the pilot of many other planes used throughout the film and even directed and filmed his own scenes piloting the plane and adjusting his own camera for himself without space in the cockpit for driver assistance.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer hopes the Academy Awards will recognize Top Gun: Maverick, especially the efforts of its lead actor, Tom Cruise.

Paramount Pictures could also push it for the Best Picture Oscar, and with his long and fabulous career, he might just win the lead actor nomination, which many people, including Bruckheimer, think is long overdue.

This is because Cruise was named the highest paid actor in Hollywood this year.
