Tom Cruise makes a rare appearance with his sister Marian, 66, as they board a helicopter in Battersea on his 62nd birthday

Tom Cruise was in high spirits as he made a rare performance with his sister Marian on Wednesday to celebrate his 62nd birthday.

The actor was filming scenes for the highly anticipated sequel Mission Impossible 8 at Longcross Studios and boarded his helicopter with his brother in Battersea.

Tom was joined by Mission Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie and his wife Heather to board the helicopter after another day of work on the film.

Marian looked equally happy as she walked across the landing pad, a relaxed figure in a black puffer jacket and matching loose trousers.

Tom has three sisters, Marian, Lee-Ann and Cass, and the actor has remained close to all of his siblings throughout his life. Their mother Mary Lee passed away in 2017.

In a 2006 interview with Parade magazine, Tom detailed the abuse he endured as a child at the hands of his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III, who died in 1984.

He said Thomas was ‘a bully and a coward… the kind of person who, if something goes wrong, will kick you. It was a great lesson in my life – how he would lull you to sleep, make you feel safe and then, boom!’

He added: ‘To me, there’s something wrong with this guy. Don’t trust him. Be careful around him. There’s that fear.’

The sighting came just days after Tom enjoyed a rare outing with his son Connor, whom he was in a relationship with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman.

Cruise and Kidman married in 1990 and their divorce was finalized in 2001. During their marriage, the couple adopted two children: Connor and Isabella, 31.

Tom and Nicole adopted their daughter Isabella when she was born in December 1992. Three years later, they also adopted Connor when she was born in January 1995.

During an earlier interview with Vanity Fair In 2007, the Moulin Rouge actress spoke openly about her decision to adopt after suffering a miscarriage.

“From the moment Tom and I got married, I wanted children. And we lost a baby early on, so that was really traumatic. And then we adopted Bella.”

Kidman added: ‘There’s a complicated background to that, because I don’t talk about a lot of things. Maybe that story will be told one day.’

Both Isabella and Connor have followed in their father’s footsteps and also become Scientologists, which Nicole openly shared during an interview with Australian publication, WHOfrom 2018.

“They’re adults. They can make their own decisions. They chose to be Scientologists and as a mother it’s my job to love them.”

Connor has also previously spoken about his mother during a conversation with women’s Day back in 2014. ‘I love my mother.’

“I don’t care what people say, I know that mom and I are solid. I love her very much. My family means everything.”

Cruise appears to still have a close bond with Isabella and Connor, but the actor has a noticeably strained relationship with his 18-year-old daughter Suri, whom he had with Katie Holmes.

It was also recently revealed that Suri dropped the Cruise surname due to her estrangement from her father, Tom Cruise.

The 18-year-old graduated from high school earlier this month and now goes by the name Suri Noelle, which also happens to be her mother, Katie’s, middle name.

In the school production of The Addams Family: A New Musical from late last December, she was also credited as Suri Noelle instead of Suri Cruise.

Katie and Tom married in 2006, a year after welcoming their daughter, but their divorce was finalized in 2012.

A source told DailyMail.com earlier this year in April that the Top Gun: Maverick actor “doesn’t exist” for Suri – who will be attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh in the fall.

‘Suri doesn’t want any contact with her father, even though she’s 18. And even when he calls, she doesn’t answer.’

The insider added, “He doesn’t exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter doesn’t want to rely on him for anything. She feels like she has one parent and that’s her mom.”

And in March last year, another source told DailyMail.com that Cruise ‘plays no part in her life.’

Shortly after Tom’s final performance with his son Connor, the Top Gun: Maverick actor was spotted out and about at Glastonbury on Saturday night.

Along with his Mission Impossible co-star Simon Pegg and X-Files actress Gillian Anderson, they watched Coldplay’s set during the festivities.
