- South Sydney Rabbitohs star’s son born just two weeks ago

Football star Tom Burgess and his wife Tahlia Giumelli have been spotted for the first time with their newborn son Alfie. They went for coffee with him in Sydney on Thursday.
The overjoyed parents took their two-week-old baby to a cafe near their home in Cronulla, in Sydney’s south. They said he was ‘built like a Burgess’ when he was born, weighing a healthy 4kg.
The customers in the café couldn’t help but smile as the couple showed off their new addition, which Tom carried in a Bugaboo bassinet.
The newest member of the Burgess family had reportedly just met his uncle Sam, who made the surprise decision to fly to Australia for his induction into the NRL Hall of Fame despite being in the midst of his career coaching a football team in England.
It was a monumental task for the Souths legend, who flew into Sydney on Monday night, just hours after leading his Warrington side to victory in a Super League clash.
He was supposed to get back on the plane on Thursday, but the hectic journey had left him somewhat tired.
“I don’t know what day it is or what time it is,” he said News Corp.
“It was great to be back. I saw my kids, I saw my brothers, I’m going to see some friends.”
Tahlia announced on Instagram that their son would be born on August 11.
‘Alfie Mark Burgess Born 8/8/24 at 4:04pm. Built like a Burgess, weighing 4kg and 54cm long,’ Tahlia, 30, wrote alongside images of the little one.
She added: ‘Our sweet little boy, the perfect addition to our family.’
Tahlia also explained that her husband assisted with the birth, after which he played a game for the Rabbitohs.
“Tom donned the gloves to help deliver our boy, then transitioned from midwife assistant to soccer player, finally making it out on the field just in time to play with his team,” she captioned a video of the newborn.
In a third post, Tahlia explained that Alfie is a ‘family name’, adding: ‘He is already adored and spoiled by his two big sisters.’
“Tom was brought into this world with the help of dad, our amazing gynecologist and midwives. We are so grateful to them for letting Tom be a part of this beautiful moment,” she said.
‘I’m going to enjoy all the cuddles with the newborn baby and this little baby bubble.’
Last Wednesday, Tahlia gave her Instagram followers an insight into how she was doing after giving birth.
“One thing I’ve learned over the years, especially since having children, is how grateful I am for my body, stretch marks included,” she wrote.
‘My focus now is no longer on the number on the scale or the size of my clothes, but on healing and recovering and spending the next few months regaining my strength.
‘My fitness goals now are to get a body that allows me to run after my children, carry Alfie until he can walk and feel as healthy and strong as possible so I can be the best parent I can be.’
The couple already have two older children, daughters Sophie, four, and Elodie, three.
They married in 2022 in a beautiful star-studded ceremony at a waterfront park in Watsons Bay, Sydney.
In April 2017 it was announced that the footballer had been in a relationship with the beautiful model for six months.
In August 2019, they announced the birth of their first child, a daughter named Sophie Heather.
