Tom Brady wants Ben Johnson to become new Las Vegas Raiders head coach after Bill Belichick rejection

Tom Brady wants Ben Johnson to take over as the next head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, it has emerged.

Brady is personally involved in the recruitment of the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator, with the seven-time Super Bowl winner ‘in love’ with him. according to NFL Insider Ian Rapoport.

Brady, a minority owner of the Raiders, also spent time with Johnson’s agent, Rapoport said.

The Raiders fired Antonio Pierce earlier this week and it was claimed that Brady had reached out to gauge Bill Belichick’s interest in the position.

But Brady’s old head coach of the New England Patriots just joined the college game against North Carolina and it is believed he would like to stay put for the time being.

Johnson has interest from several teams in the NFL. Earlier on Saturday, he interviewed with the Chicago Bears about their vacant head coaching position.

His Lions team is currently on a bye week after securing the NFC’s top seed for the playoffs, which begin Saturday when the Houston Texans host the Los Angeles Chargers.

Whoever takes over in Vegas will have the opportunity to build the franchise from the bottom up after a terrible 2024 campaign.

The Raiders have the sixth pick in the 2025 Draft after finishing the current season with a miserable 4-13 record.

They also need to hire a new General Manager, with Tom Telesco following Pierce out the exit door earlier this week.

Brady’s role in rebuilding the Raiders is viewed with controversy in some quarters, as he also has a lucrative $375 million deal to work as an analyst for Fox Sports.
