Tom Brady reveals his son Benny wants to be the next Gronk (and NOT a quarterback like his dad!), opens up on his $375m Fox deal – and explains why an ‘invigorated’ Aaron Rodgers is going to impress in New York

Tom Brady has revealed that his son Benjamin has rejected his father and instead wants to follow in Rob Gronkowski’s footsteps to become the NFL’s next superstar – and NOT a quarterback.

Brady, 46, has three children, and his youngest son Benny is 13 and about to embark on a fledgling football career, much to his father’s delight.

But instead of aiming to become a superstar quarterback like his father, Brady has revealed that his son has every intention of starring on the tight end just like his most famous teammate, Gronk.

“My son is going to play football this year, Benny, so I threw the ball at him in the backyard,” Brady explained in the latest edition of his podcast: ‘Let’s go! with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray’ on SiriusXM.

“He wants to be as tight as Gronk, and he’s going to be a little beast. He is a great boy and he has many talents. He is a truly talented musician and artist. And then this year he said to me, “Daddy, I’m playing football.” And I thought, “What do you want to play?” And he said, “Tight end. I wanna be like Gronk!”

“So I texted Gronk and I was like, ‘Yo, my boy wanna be like you!’ And he loved it. … So I was throwing in the backyard last night, my daughter made me kick the soccer ball. And (I) really enjoy this new experience. And there’s so much in life that’s here to live.’

Although Brady will not be on the field at the start of the season, he will be in a football stadium as he prepares to be honored by the New England Patriots ahead of their game against the Eagles.

Referring to the upcoming event as a “special reunion,” Brady shared how excited he is to be back at Gillette Stadium, without having to put on a helmet.

“I’m going back to New England on Saturday, to Gillette, and Mr. Kraft gave me a very warm welcome, so I’ll have a lot of good friends there. I’ve had so many people text me saying they’re glad I came back.

“I’m excited to get there. I haven’t been back much just the way things are going. Your life takes you in different directions.’

And the other direction Brady will take in 2024 is that of an analyst role at Fox, after signing a ten-year, $375 million deal with the network.

After retiring for the second and final time in February, Brady made his on-air Fox Sports debut this week.

He made a brief appearance on the screens of college football fans when he was seen Saturday in a promotional video cheering up his alma mater Michigan on Fox Big Noon Kickoff and sending a message to other rival teams.

“Look guys, I hate to ruin this for everyone else, but this is Michigan’s year,” said the former quarterback.

“Coming in after two consecutive Big 10 titles, two beatdowns in Ohio State…sorry Urban (Meyers)…look, Coach Harbaugh has all the important pieces back. He’s got a blue chip quarterback in JJ McCarthy, a two-headed monster in the backfield, and we’ve got a loaded defense.”

Brady was drafted 199th overall from Michigan in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Brady was excited about the new role, adding, “I think a lot of cool stuff happens and again I think part of life is growing in different ways, expanding in different ways, trying new things and being outside of your comfort.” enters. zone.

“I think, despite the expectations I have of myself, I’m going to work really hard in this part of my career, knowing that the first time you try something, you’re not very good at it. The first time I threw a soccer ball, I wasn’t very good at it. The first time I tried a math equation, I wasn’t very good at it.

“So in a variety of ways, the first time you try something isn’t going to be the easiest and you’re just going to have to keep working at it.”

One of the duties Brady will have on the air next year is discussing the careers of his former teammates and rivals – and one of the most high-profile of the latter comes in the form of Aaron Rodgers.

A-Rod’s summer move to the New York Jets has made headlines, and Brady was happy to share his thoughts on the veteran QB, claiming he will have success at MetLife Stadium in 2023.

“I’m excited for him,” Brady said. ‘He will be strengthened. Looks like he’s having a good time until this year. I know he’s been involved in the off-season, which is always great, and he’s really trying to connect with his teammates.

So I wonder what he does. They have a very good team. They have a very good attack. And you know, Aaron is, if he’s got good receivers, man, it’s pretty dangerous. … I think he’s going to have a great year.’

And it’s fair to say that Brady is also expecting a great year, without the pressure and tension that comes with donning his uniform for the first time in over thirty years.
