Tom Brady has revealed who he thinks should be the 2023 NFL MVP favorite as the regular season comes to a close and each team has just three games remaining before the playoffs.

Brady, who won the league's MVP three times in his 23-year career (2007, 2010 and 2017), pointed to the San Francisco 49ers' roster as one with a player largely capable of being this year's greatest individual win the football prize.

Niners quarterback Brock Purdy is the betting favorite of many sportsbooks. He is flying high this season for a 49ers team that sits atop the NFC standings with an 11-3 record.

Purdy has completed 69.8 percent of his passes for 3,795 yards, 29 touchdowns and seven interceptions in what is only his second NFL season.

But perhaps one of his teammates is a more deserving candidate to win MVP. Purdy even says it himself…

Backed by Brady, 49ers running back Christian McCaffery, who is engaged to model for Olivia Culpo, proves his position is still valuable and worthy of big-money contracts as he leads the league with 1,292 rushing yards – 324 more than any other player – and 13 touchdowns this year. He would be the first running back to win the award since Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings in 2012.

What's more is that the two-time Pro Bowler is also impacting his team as a pass catcher out of the backfield with 57 receptions for 509 yards and seven receiving TDs.

“I remember the first time I caught a glimpse of Christian was at the Rose Bowl,” Brady recalled on the latest episode of his podcast titled “Lets Go!”. “He caught a corner pass against Iowa and ran for a touchdown about 75 yards. I thought, 'Well, they're not going to get him.' He was a dynamic player then.

“He's a dynamic player now and I think everything he's done this year is a lot like what he's done in the past. They are a different team with some different opportunities and they have been very dynamic in attack.

“So he's definitely the MVP favorite in my eyes and so is his quarterback, Brock Purdy, who says great things about him…

“And I know you'll say, because you're a great team player, the Super Bowl is all that really matters. Considering the offseason the running backs are having, do you feel like an award like that would be pretty nice?”

McCaffrey, Purdy and the rest of the 49ers will line up against another 11-3 team in the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day at Levi's Stadium.
