With his 23rd season underway, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady showed against the Cowboys in Week 1 that he still has the ability to perform at a high level.
But his desire to continue doing so requires special measures and attention that he has never given himself before.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport says Brady will be slowing down this season, with the three-time MVP taking every Wednesday off as Veterans Day for personal and recovery reasons.
Brady had taken last Wednesday off, and the Bucs called it a rest day.

Veteran Days are relatively common among the NFL’s senior elite talents, but Brady, in particular, may need to use those days.
The 45-year-old stated on his ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast that the hits in the Cowboys game could take their toll on his body, despite only being fired twice.
“When you’re 45, your body changes a lot. So what am I dealing with now? I woke up today and said, “Holy s***, there were some hits,” Brady said on the pod.
Later in the week, things seemed to get better with Brady telling reporters, “I’m feeling good today. Yes, I feel great.’

Brady has been known to take the occasional Thursday off during the regular season, but he has never promised to take a day off every week.
According to Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles, the QB won’t be the only one getting Veterans Days.
“It’s important for most players,” Bowles said of practice time on Friday. “But I think if you play for a certain amount of time in the league and you prepare in a certain way, there’s no need to practice that guy all the time.
“You’re going to practice, but you’re not going to practice all the time. You get a day off here and there because it’s a long season.’
Brady said in his podcast that the hits are increasing and says he looks at things ‘day by day’
This season may already be taking a physical toll on the greatest quarterback of all time, with Brady mentioning on the podcast that he just does things a day.
“You look at your arm and you have bruises, you have cuts and you say, ‘Okay, how long do I want to make this commitment?’ Brady told Gray.
“And I’ve clearly made the commitment for this year and everything will be as always – keep evaluating all these different aspects of playing.”
“I think I’ll just take it day by day and evaluate it as it comes,” he continued.
