Things aren’t improving for Tom Brady after the Buccaneers’ latest 27-22 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football as the seven-time Super Bowl champion faces the worst start of his career with Tampa Bay sitting at two. games under a winning record (3-5).
The attack from Lamar Jackson and the Ravens came alive in the second half and dominated the game on the ground. Brady and the Bucs attack again struggled for much of the night, remaining static throughout most of their offensive possessions.
The Amazon Prime crew, made up of former NFL players Ryan Fitzpatrick, Richard Sherman, Tony Gonzalez and Andrew Whitworth, wasn’t too nice with the 45-year-old’s latest display in Tampa.
“I didn’t want to believe it came into this game, I tried to drink the cool tool. I thought they would come out and do it, but this offense is broken,” quarterback journeyman Fitzpatrick said after the game.
Bucs’ QB Tom Brady, 45, showed signs of aging in Thursday’s 27-22 defeat to the Ravens
Brady had a rough night completing 26 of 44 passes for 325 yards and one touchdown
‘They are lost. It’s been hard to watch today because that’s not the old Bucks and I don’t see a solution anytime soon,” he added.
However, XLVIII Super Bowl champion Richard Sherman intervened briefly to point out the only positive aspect of the Bucs’ offense.
‘You know what looks good? From Tom Brady to Mike Evans. We need to see more of it, just force it,” said the Seahawks legend.
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick claimed Tampa Bay offense ‘broken’ with Brady
Fitzpatrick disagreed with Brady’s former team-mate from last year, saying it’s “not an effective way to play the game.”
‘Yes, but again, [the Bucs] couldn’t play football at all. Another game does that. Out on targets, it just seems out. You see things you just don’t see them doing,” said ex-Rams and Bengals, who tackled Andrew Whitworth.
“You know, you see Tom Brady frustrated, throwing the helmet, but they’re just missing things. They look off. It seems like they don’t communicate well. It’s just not something you ever see in Tom Brady’s offenses and I think that’s so shocking.”
Chiefs hall of fame, Tony Gonzalez chimed in, claiming that “all wheels have fallen” for both Tampa Bay and the NFL’s most accomplished quarterback.
“It’s going to be a very long year for Tom Brady if they can’t get this ship in the right direction,” he said, adding later: “He’s down inside. He doubts himself and says, “What the hell did I come back for? I didn’t have to do this.”
“All the chaos, all the stress, all the criticism he’s undergoing right now. You know, it’s just, it’s sad. I’m a little sad. I mean, I’m a Tom Brady fan. We’ll be watching this guy for the rest of our lives, and we’re going to have to watch this because like I said, it’s not like the Lions. This is Tom Brady.’
Andrew Whitworth said the display wasn’t ‘something you’ll ever see out of Brady’s offenses’
‘It’s going to be a pretty long year for Tom Brady,’ claimed former tight end Tony Gonzalez
“He’s depressed inside. He doubts himself and says “what the hell did I come back for?” Gonzalez claimed after the match
The former tight end then insisted he didn’t want Brady to back down in the same way Jerry Rice did when the legendary wide receiver never appeared for the Denver Broncos after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks in 2005.
“It won’t affect his legacy, but I want him to have some success,” Gonzalez concluded.
Sherman agreed with his fellow expert, saying, “The treat we’ve been given for the past 20 or 20 years is over.”
“You know, it’s like one of those things where you just watch the star die and it’s like, man, it’s so basic. Tom Brady has been so fundamental to football, it just changes everything. You know, it makes everyone sad because he’s been such a mainstay in this game and to see him deteriorate and see his team not doing well is sad for everyone,” he added later.
Richard Sherman, who played with Brady in 2021, said ‘the treat we’ve been given for the past 20 years is over’
Brady remained defiant in his post-game comments, saying the Bucs ‘need to figure out how to win games’
Brady admitted after the home loss that he and his teammates did not play ‘very good attacking football’.
‘I don’t think anyone feels good. We lost 4-5, not where we want to be, but you know we didn’t deserve it. We have to earn it and fight hard and figure out how to win games.”
He later added, “We have to start earning it. I think you can erase what happened in the last eight weeks. We need to dig deep, see what we all stand for, get to work, try to improve and, as I said, give ourselves a better chance of winning.”
The defeat also came amid misery off the field for Brady, amid reports that he and supermodel wife Gisele Bunchen are headed for a divorce.
Bundchen has reportedly hired Florida’s top divorce attorney after her relationship with NFL legend Brady turned “very nasty.”
The supermodel is said to have started preparing for the long fight by hiring Tom Sasser, whose previous clients are Tiger Woods and Jeff Gordon.
Trouble on the field is mounting amid reports that his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen, 42, has hired a top divorce attorney. She reportedly hired Tom Sasser (R), a Florida lawyer
Bundchen, 42, was spotted shopping without her diamond wedding ring earlier this month – as rumors of her marriage continued to circulate. Earlier this week, her NFL beau, 45, was also seen without a ring.
Sources told Page six the addition of divorce lawyers has made the stressful divorce “become very annoying between Tom and Gisele.”
The high-profile couple is said to be on neutral grounds regarding their two shared children Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine, who opt for joint custody. Brady also has another son Jack, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan.
The couple are reportedly not arguing over their shared children Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, nine. They have reportedly decided on joint custody
When asked how he will spend the Bucs’ ten days off, Brady didn’t mention anything about family or matters off the field, but insisted he would focus on how he can help the team.
“Try to find out what we can do better,” he said. “You know, things that have worked, things that haven’t worked. Find out if we can play more consistently, score more points, put ourselves in better positions to win.”
Brady finished Thursday’s game with 59.1% of his passes (26/44) for 325 yards and one touchdown, while also becoming the most fired quarterback ever in the league with 555. Two of them came against the Ravens.
