‘If I don’t slip, that’s Randy exaggerating for 6…’: Tom Brady jokes that he would have scored a TOUCHDOWN for the Bucs in the NFL Germany game – only to SLIP hilariously and then be flagged for tripping!

  • Sunday was a day to remember for Tom Brady, but it could have been even better
  • In a surprising passage of the game, he could have had a chance at a touchdown
  • He was thrown by Leonard Fournette, but slipped before he had the ball
  • After the game, 45-year-old Brady took to Twitter and saw the funny side

Tom Brady could have scored a touchdown for the Bucs in their 21-16 win over the Seahawks in Germany – only to slip painfully as he made his run.

Midway through the third quarter in a game that nearly belied his 45 years, Brady sprinted down the left wing after the Bucs strangely lined up with Leonard Fournette quarterback.

The Seahawks – understandably – thought Brady was being used as bait, but for a fleeting moment, when Fournette actually picked him, it seemed to open up for Brady.

And then he slipped. Tariq Woolen, cornerback for the Seahawks, jumped and when he jumped to catch the ball, Brady Woolen tried to trip and was flagged off.

But after taking to Twitter after the game, Brady saw the funny side.

“If I don’t slip, that’s Randy overkill for 6…” Brady wrote, retweeting footage of the moment itself at the Allianz Arena.

Fortunately for Brady and his team, it wasn’t an expensive misstep. Seattle’s Geno Smith fiddled with the ball as he pushed to bring his team back into play. The quarter ended with the Bucs leading 14-3 and they went on to seal an important win.

The win was another impressive milestone for Brady, making him the first QB to win in three countries outside of the United States.

In addition to Sunday’s win in Germany, Brady has also won in England and Mexico. But he was clearly captivated by the fantastic atmosphere in the Allianz Arena on Sunday afternoon.

Brady said: ‘That was one of the great football experiences I’ve ever had.

“It says a lot for 23 years in the league, a regular season game and I think the fan turnout has been incredible. It felt very electric from the moment we entered the field.

“At the end of the match singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ and ‘Country Road’ that was pretty epic.

“I think everyone who was a part of that experience got something amazing. Thank you for hosting us, we appreciate it.’

Positive words indeed. But you can imagine how much more he would have enjoyed it had he stayed on his feet.
