Speaking with Jim Gray on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast, Brady, widely regarded as the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, joked that he needed to get better to retire.
“You know, I’ve done it once before, so I’ve got to figure this out and actually get good at it,” the NFL great said. Everything is quite new.
‘My friend says: ‘The future happens one day at a time.’ And I think with any great chapter that ends, there are other great opportunities ahead.
Brady told Gray: “I look forward to exploring a lot of other parts of life that have been left out for a while.” I’m sure I’ll feel a few different things as things progress, but I’m doing great, in a great space and excited for what’s to come.
After his stellar 23-year career in which he won seven Super Bowl titles, the most by any player in league history, Brady admitted his decision was a candid moment he still hadn’t understood.

‘For, you know, 32 years you’ve been preparing to prepare for another season, and I think the reality of that has probably not even sunk in yet.
“So I don’t know how I’m going to feel as those moments get closer to a degree, but I’m very happy and content with where we are.”

Gray asked the NFL great if it was correct to say that he could still physically cope with the cost of the NFL season, but that his “heart and mind have had enough.”
Brady responded, laughing at Gray’s analysis of his decision to retire. ‘No, that’s not exact,’ he said.
“There will always be a part of me that wants to play and a part of me that feels like I can play. There is only one decision to know that the time is right. It’s going to end at some point and I think now is the time.
It’s not that I can’t do it, it’s not that I don’t want to do it, it’s not that I’m not excited to play, I love playing soccer. I have loved playing soccer since I was a kid on Portola Drive. It’s just a decision that it’s time to do other things.
Brady’s grandmother sent a message of support to the great NFL player through the podcast, reviewing his career and his decision to retire.
Galynn Brady said of her grandson: “Tommy’s career has been a really great story. Our family has been so blessed with his career and watching him play football and the excitement and it has kept our family so close.
“People always say, ‘Oh, you must be so happy to hear that he’s retiring.’ You know, we’re happy, but there’s also a sadness that goes with it, because I loved watching him run on the field and getting excited by him and yelling from him, “Let’s go!”
In June 2022, Brady tweeted that if his post got at least 40,000 likes, he would “recreate” an ad the brand had shared promoting a set of boxer briefs.
The post came just a week after his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, also flaunted her body while posing for a beachside photo shoot.
The legendary quarterback shared that the image was a response to a “deal” he had made with his clothing company, Brady Brand.
Off the field, Brady has been finalizing his highly publicized divorce for the past year from his now ex-wife and supermodel Giselle Bundchen.
