Confrontational moment Weather presenter of Today is almost blinded live by parrot: ‘Get it off my face’
Today show weather presenter Tim Davies got the shock of his life on Thursday.
The 39-year-old roving reporter nearly lost an eye when a parrot named Miko tried to kiss him during a live cross from the Sunshine Coast.
A bird handler had to step in and carefully remove the animal when Davies couldn’t shake it off.
The bizarre moment happened while Davies was trying to read the day’s weather forecast with Miko on his chest.
‘Good morning. I don’t know if Miko lets me make the prediction. Maybe we should get it off my face,” he told host Alex Cullen in the studio.

As the parrot crept closer and closer to his eyes, the professional handler stepped in before he could do any damage.
Davies later admitted that the experience had been terrifying.
‘I’m so relieved. I thought my eyes were gone,” he said.
Footage of the dangerous moment was later shared on the Today show’s Instagram account.
“Oh my god poor Tim,” one fan wrote, while another added, “I’d be in therapy.”

Davies has had his fair share of amusing on-air encounters about the weather.
Last year, Today viewers watched surreal scenes of a man running from him to avoid being interviewed on camera.
Davies was giving away free fuel vouchers at a Sydney petrol station when he tried to offer one to a driver waiting in line at the servo.

But the bearded man stormed out the door as soon as Davies approached, leaving Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon in stitches.
‘Excuse me sir. Do you want $200 in free fuel?’ Davies asked the man, who brushed him off and hurried off.
“I’m not from A Current Affair!” he said as Stefanovic and Langdon burst out laughing.
Before achieving fame on the Today show, Davies worked in radio as a news presenter for The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
Davies later admitted that the experience had been terrifying, but Today co-hosts Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo (above) thought it was hilarious
