Today show: Sarah Abo takes her $34,000 Toyota Corolla for a spin around Sydney

New Today host Sarah Abo proves she’s more down-to-earth than silver-plated Karl Stefanovic as she takes her $34,000 Toyota Corolla for a spin around Sydney

She may be making a lot of money as the new Today show co-host, but Sarah Abo still drives a car worth her old 60-minute paycheck.

The Channel Nine star, 35, has yet to upgrade her wheels since moving from Melbourne to Sydney for her breakfast promotion.

She was seen Friday taking her Toyota Corolla Hybrid, valued at an estimated $34,000, for a spin in Harbor City.

Her vehicle is quite modest compared to the luxury cars of her Today co-anchor Karl Stefanovic, who drives a $130,000 Toyota Land Cruiser.

Karl, 48, drove around in a $180,000 Mercedes-Benz, and was once seen in the driver’s seat of a $300,000 vintage Land Rover.

Sarah looked classy in a beige shirt dress, which she paired with a cap and $1,390 Fendi sandals.

She began hosting Today full-time in January, but had been a familiar face to viewers for a while when she filled in for former co-anchor Ally Langdon last year.

Earlier this month, Sarah spoke about her refreshing approach to dealing with online trolls, saying she doesn’t take it too seriously.

“If it’s something as trivial as what you’re wearing or how your hair is [styled], what does it matter?’ she told the Something to talk about podcast.

‘As long as I do my job well, that’s all that matters. So sure, take a look at my hair or what I’m wearing. I could not care less.’

Sarah also admitted that her early morning start was a shock to the system after years of working late at night on 60 minutes.

“I had to completely recalibrate myself. I wake up at a time that wouldn’t be far away [when I was] I’m going to sleep earlier, but I’m adjusting,” she said.

Channel Nine announced in November that Sarah would replace Ally on the Today show, alongside longtime Karl who recently signed a new contract with the network worth a reported $1.8 million.

She officially took part in the breakfast show on January 16, which also includes sports host Alex Cullen and entertainment reporter cum newscaster Brooke Boney.

Sarah may have one of the most high-profile jobs in Australian television, but she’s worked hard to keep her personal life a secret.

The journalist has been married to her husband Cyrus Moran since 2012, and they quietly celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary in December.
