Hoda (pictured next to Savannah Guthrie) shared how she makes sure she starts her day right, despite having to wake up early every morning

Hoda explained that she uses the extra 60 minutes each morning to schedule some rest into her routine.

‘I meditate for twenty minutes and write something in my diary. And I do (a spirit) check. Like, “What does my mind need today? What does my body need today?”

But she explained that every day is different and she needs to take time every morning to understand her needs.

‘Sometimes I need a manicure. Sometimes I need a walk in nature. Sometimes I need a break. Sometimes I need a warm bath. I’ll write down what I need at that moment,” Hoda offered.

The host, who usually appears on screens with co-host Jenna Bush Hager, said she will write down memories of “specific things” and “really easy things” she needs at that moment.

She elaborated even further, explaining, “I don’t look at my phone or the news of the day or who won what – not even sports – until I’m done.

‘Cause I just feel like you can open a gate and the world comes rushing at you.

“It’s like, ‘I’m not ready yet. I just need a minute.'”

Hoda also makes sure to take time to draw them a picture or leave a thoughtful note for daughters, Haley, seven, and Hope, five.

“We talked about how to navigate midlife with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.

“I left this conversation feeling uplifted and inspired, and I hope you will too.”

This isn’t the first time Hoda has revealed her soothing morning routine before work.

She previously shared more of her routine with Katie Couric Media and said, “I set two alarms on my phone. One leaves at 3:00am and one leaves at 3:15am.

“I’m one of those people who shows up. I usually don’t linger too much. I just jump in the shower.

‘I light a candle. I put on some nice music. I immediately down one bottle of water and sit at our kitchen table with a journal.

“I don’t care if I’m late or if I have all the time in the world, I try to do this one thing no matter what.

‘In the diary I write the three things I am grateful for, right there at that moment.

She continued, “Sometimes I need a manicure. Sometimes I need a walk in nature. Sometimes I need a break. Sometimes I need a warm bath. I will write down what (I need) at that moment’

Hoda continued, “It made me feel good, so I wrote, ‘That’s what my brain needs.’ I don’t look at my phone or the news of the day, or who won what – even sports, nothing, until I’m done’

She arrives on set at 5 a.m., gets her makeup and hair done at 7 a.m., and officially starts her workday with Jenna.

“It’s almost a level set. I’ll grab a cup of coffee and the car will come around 4:15 am’

As for her nighttime routine, she starts decompressing at home around 7 p.m.

She shared with Oprah Daily: “I try not to scroll through Twitter at the end of the day to see what’s trending, just in case there’s a news story for tomorrow.

‘I try to stay away from everything negative. There’s only so much a person can take in before you feel that despair, so I always keep a book of quotes by my bed.

“I’ll read a quote, and it will stay with you. I think the most important parts of the day are how you start it and how you end it, so I try to end it calmly.”
