Viewers of Today Extra have turned on host David Campbell after he confronted Married At First Sight star Jesse Burford during an awkward live interview on Thursday.
The marriage celebrant was questioned about his role in the cheating scandal involving his ‘wife’ Claire Nomarhas and boyfriend Adam Seed.

Jesse, speaking via video link from Perth, accused the Channel Nine presenter of holding a grudge against him, noting that David had previously called him a “walking red flag” and even rolled his eyes when his name was mentioned in the air.
And fans quickly came to Jesse’s defense, accusing David of “victim blaming” and acting “judgmental and rude.”
Viewers of Today Extra have turned on host David Campbell after he confronted Married At First Sight star Jesse Burford during an awkward live interview on Thursday.
“Rude and arrogant David, you know how television can portray people,” said one.
“Wow, David saw you in a different light today,” added another.
“Team Jesse, glad you stood up for yourself,” another commented.
Their tense confrontation began with David smugly commenting, “Where do you think your responsibility lies? [the affair]?’
‘My responsibility lies… I’m sorry, what was that question? Where is my responsibility when my wife kisses another guy? she said in disbelief.
Fans quickly came to Jesse’s defense, accusing David of “blaming the victim” and acting “judgmental and rude.”
David got defensive, telling Jesse that he was merely giving his interpretation of the events as they were being aired on the show.
He said, ‘let me put it this way, we saw you on the show give your yuck list, shut up [Claire], kind of ignore her, then when she goes and kisses someone else, you get all ready and go, “Hey, hey, hey!” Where is your responsibility?
Jesse rolled his eyes and replied, ‘David, David, David… You make me laugh, dude!
“I’ve seen interviews you’ve done with Claire and Janelle [Han, Adam’s wife] calling me a “walking red flag” and mocking and rolling his eyes when my name is mentioned.
David acknowledged that this was true, but refused to back down; then, he invited Jesse to tell his side of the story about his negative portrayal at the beginning of the season.
A heated argument ensued when David suggested that Jesse bore some responsibility for his ‘wife’ Claire Nomarhas’ infidelity after she kissed Adam Seed on the show last week.
‘Let me tell you about “the disgust”. I’m glad you gave me the chance [to respond]. That was something the show really overplayed. I don’t care if Claire likes zodiac signs or crystals. Good for her!’ he said.
“I’m not going to completely write her off as a person because she’s into something that I’m not.”
He then explained the ‘silence’ thing, saying that he only told Claire to shut up because she was causing a scene at the airport on the way to her honeymoon and other passengers were starting to notice.
“I wasn’t rude, I was actually very nice about it, I just woke up his conscience and said, ‘We should use our inner voice.’ And all of a sudden I’m this fucking misogynist and I shut up all the women. It’s ridiculous, man,” he said. .
Kindergarten assistant Claire admitted on Monday’s episode that she kissed Adam (right) during a drunken night out. Both she and Adam denied any infidelity after Jesse confronted them.
After Jesse said his part, David told him that he was glad to have him on Today Extra so he could tell his side of the story.
I appreciate you being here, really. I want to tell you, Jesse. Because while I’ve said those things about you, that’s what we’re seeing on the show, I’m not the only person who feels that,” he said.
‘So I appreciate you being here and out front. How do you feel as if you have been portrayed? [on MAFS]?’
Jesse said that he felt his editing in the first week of the experiment was unfair, revealing that there were many good moments between him and Claire on their honeymoon that weren’t shown, as well as moments where she disrespected him.
Viewers criticized Claire’s behavior (right), calling her “deceitful” and dishonest because she had previously denied the allegation and said Jesse was just “jealous.”
They also talked about Wednesday night’s dinner, which documented the fallout from Claire and Adam’s cheating scandal.
‘I just wanted to go home. She had said everything she wanted to say,’ she said.
Jesse described the atmosphere while filming the dinner as “not very good” and said he didn’t want to get “swept away” by the drama.
Contrary to how the situation played out on TV, Jesse said that Adam showed some remorse for his actions, but had trouble “articulating an apology.”
