TMNT Splintered Fate looks like a Ninja Turtles take on Hades

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are on a new mission TMNT splintered fatea new roguelike much like the turtles’ take on Supergiant Games Hades. Which kits TMNT splintered fate separate is of course the inclusion of the turtles as playable characters and cooperative gameplay.

In the turtles’ new adventure, Master Splinter is missing. Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael take to the rooftops, streets and sewers of New York to find their sensei and unravel the mystery behind who kidnapped him in an “evolving story,” according to Paramount, written by comics artist Tom Waltz. Along the way, they’ll encounter allies such as April O’Neil, Metalhead, and Casey Jones, who will provide clues to Splinter’s whereabouts.

Since this is a roguelike, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles earn random power-ups and expand the turtles’ unique combat abilities with each run. In the trailer above, we see a list of selectable power-ups that affect one of the turtles’ combat abilities, giving it a flame attack, faster attacks, or more damage while at low health. Like it Hadesis there an evolving progression and further elements of randomization: room layouts will change and bosses will have different modifications to make familiar battles more exciting.

TMNT splintered fate is the latest attempt at bringing the Ninja Turtles to video games, following on from last year’s one-two retro game compilation Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection and throwback beat ’em up Shredder’s Revenge. Paramount has much more planned for the turtles, including an AAA graphic novel adaptation The last Ronin. Even villainous Shredder recently gained some notoriety, gaining operator status Call of Duty: War Zone 2.0.

In addition to games, the Ninja Turtles will star in a new animated movie later this year and detour to Hawkins for a Stranger things crosswalk.

TMNT splintered fate was developed by Super Evil Megacorp, the studio behind mobile hits like the MOBA vain glory and battlefield shooter Catalyst Black. The game is available now through Apple Arcade and can be played on Apple TV, iOS and Mac computers.
