TJ Holmes complains his journalism career was ‘upended’ in the wake of Amy Robach romance going public and describes 2023 as the ‘worst year of my life’

TJ Holmes complained that his journalism career was “turned upside down” in a video he posted to his new TikTok account.

Holmes uploaded his first-ever video to the platform on Wednesday, saying he was “embarrassingly behind” in joining the social media trend.

He then “reintroduced” himself to the Internet, saying, “And it’s the career – the 25-plus year career in journalism that was turned upside down about a year ago when some aspect of my personal life, including who I am dating became gossip fodder.”

The former Good Morning America co-host then revealed that he experienced the “worst year of his life” during his romantic affair with Amy Robach, which was revealed by Dailymail.com.

“But as I sit here before you, with some perspective, it’s been the best year of my life and one of the blessings of my life because I’m here with my first TikTok post, and I’m the happiest and healthiest and most best version of myself,” Holmes added.

TJ Holmes uploaded his first-ever video to the platform on Wednesday, saying his 25-plus-year career in journalism was turned upside down after his and Amy Robach’s affair came to light.

He then credited Robach for helping him live an authentic life as the couple began to “navigate” their lives together.

Holmes and Robach made headlines in November 2022 after their off-screen friendship developed into a full-blown romantic relationship.

The pair were involved in a passionate romance, despite both being married to their respective spouses for the past twelve years.

According to insiders, TJ and Amy’s friendship started in June, if not earlier, “when they were in London together filming the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee for ABC and the staff was buzzing about the intimacy between them.”

They were later fired from GMA in January 2023 after their scandal broke.

As the saga unfolded, Robach and Holmes filed for divorce from their spouses to whom they had both been married since 2010.

In an even deeper twist, their former spouses recently struck up an unlikely romance after being abandoned by their respective partners, when their affair was first exposed by The New York Post.

The unlikely couple have reportedly been dating for about six months and have bonded over the experience of watching their marriage crumble with Holmes and Robach.

‘It has become something different and they are connected through their values. It is bigger than the affair now,” the source said.

Fiebig, a lawyer, reportedly settled her divorce from Holmes in October 2023, while former football star and actor Shue, best known for his role as Billy Campbell, finalized his divorce from Roach in March.

Holmes and Fiebig settled their divorce in December 2022, just weeks after news of his and Robach’s relationship became public.

Robach then finalized her divorce from Shue in March, according to Page six.

Holmes, who has two children from his first marriage, shares one child with Fiebig.

Robach and Shue had no children together, but often touted their “blended family,” as Shue’s three sons were joined by Robach’s two daughters when they tied the knot in 2010.

Days after Fiegig and Shue were spotted together, Holmes broke his silence on the relationship.

He said he “won’t clap back at the headlines” on an episode of their podcast, adding that he “doesn’t read the headlines” but won’t get drawn into “back-and-forth games.”

“I don’t Google my name. I’m staying away from it,” Holmes said, adding that certain news outlets have “agendas.”

“We absolutely expected this to happen,” he said.

On a recent episode of the couples’ latest podcast, Holmes and Roach talked candidly about drinking too much amid a stressful and tumultuous 2023.

They revealed that they have since decided to take part in Dry January, as Holmes said he would ‘easily drink 18 drinks a day’.

Robach also admitted that the amount of alcohol she drank was appalling amid the stress resulting from the publicity affair and the personal and professional fallout afterward.

“I had no job to go to and I was away from a lot of friends and family,” Robach said. ‘What have I done? I drank a lot. Much more than I’ve ever done. I don’t think I’ve ever drank a whole day and for me that was 2023.”

Robach said that although she drank consistently, she did not “get wasted or drunk,” but rather tried to change her mood as she struggled through a difficult time in her life.

“It was staying on a buzz all day,” she said, “or maintaining an elevated state of mind during an anxious year.”

Holmes said that facing unpleasant truths was an essential element in recognizing a problem that needs to be fixed.
