Tiny NYC Nolita studio with crazy location for shower and stove hits the market – and you won’t believe the monthly rent!

  • There is a studio apartment with a bizarre layout in Nolita, New York
  • The house has a shower behind the front door and a stove in the middle of the kitchen
  • Social media users suggested the landlord should be ‘jailed’ over his proposed monthly rent

A tiny house with a layout dubbed “New York City’s worst” has sparked outrage online after its rental price was revealed.

The bizarre studio in the Big Apple’s Nolita neighborhood features several unique but completely undesirable features, including a half-finished shower right behind the front door.

The special arrangement continues in the kitchen, which is less than a meter away and where a stove has been randomly placed in front of a worktop.

The bathroom of the unit at 232 Elizabeth Street consists of just a small toilet – with no light, sink or mirror.

To make matters worse, the shabby apartment is priced at a whopping $3,495 per month.

Video footage from inside the horror show shows potential tenants opening the front door to the shower, which is behind a glass brick wall.

Inside, several tiles are missing from the shower and you can see that paint is flaking off the walls.

Just a few steps away is a refrigerator, along with the oddly placed stove, which the ad calls the “modern kitchen.”

Photos from the ad show the cooking appliance previously housed in worktops that have since been removed.

Real estate agents describe the apartment on StreetEasy as “charming” and list “high ceilings, exposed brick and hardwood floors” as features.

‘You can’t beat this block! Conveniently located to the best shopping and dining New York City has to offer,ā€ the listing said.

However, social media users have been quick to disagree since it was posted by David Okocha on his @ocr_realty account.

One user wrote: ‘This really makes me angry. They can’t get away with that.

ā€œHopefully the landlord will be charged with trespassing and forced to fix up that crappy apartment and everything else attached to it. It is a shame.’

ā€œ$3495 for a cockroach motel,ā€ another added.

ā€œJail time for all involved,ā€ one person wrote.

“That price doesn’t leave much for therapy because of the depression you get from living here,” said another.

Okocha agreed, saying it was the ā€œworst design layout in an apartmentā€ he had ever seen.

ā€œI don’t even know who designed this place, it’s just weird,ā€ he said in the video.

‘When I first saw it I thought I was in the wrong apartment and that it was being renovated. I thought there was no way they were going to put this apartment on the market,ā€ he told the New York Post.

‘Everything was just very tight. I can imagine that, especially if you have guests, it won’t work if you have to squash everyone into the large studio space.’

Despite this, Okocha believes the apartment will still be snapped up due to its location.
