Tina Turner has passed away at the age of 83.

The iconic singer died today at her home in Switzerland after a long illness.

Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n Roll’ passed away peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.

“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model,” her representatives said in a statement.

Turner was born in 1939 in Brownsville, Tennessee. She rose to fame as part of the Ike and Tina Turner duo in the 1970s before launching a solo career that ranks among the most successful female recording artist in history.

She is also referred to as the Queen of Rock ‘N’ Roll and leaves behind three children.
