Earlier this month, Tina celebrated her 40th birthday on set with her co-stars in Coronation Street and shared snaps from the special day on her Instagram.

She was joined by Helen Worth (Gail Platt), Sue Nicholls (Audrey Roberts), Jack Shepherd (David Platt), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt), Ben Price (Nick Tilsley).

The group enjoyed cake and other snacks together while gifting Tina a sweet memory board of old snaps from her time on the show.

She also shared a look at her dressing room which was decorated with balloons, banners and flowers.

In addition, someone had written a sweet message with the text: ‘Happy 40th birthday Tina’ on her mirror.

A familiar face to soap opera fans, the actress has starred as Sarah Platt in Coronation Street since 1999 when she joined the ITV show at the age of 16.

It comes after Tina revealed she doubts she’ll be on the soap as long as veteran Bill Roache – and admits she “dreams” to star in more period dramas.

The actress told MailOnline that she would transform her look for her next role, die and cut her hair to get the chance to appear on a show like the Netflix series The Crown.

Mum-of-two Tina has warned her 13-year-old daughter Scarlett, who can be seen in Waterloo Road, that TV isn’t as ‘glamorous’ as she might think and that she needs to be ‘nice’ to everyone on set, whatever their job title.

Tina said: ‘I really like the fact that Coronation Street can feel like going home. There’s something comforting about it. Even the theme song… it’s like a blanket.

“It’s weird because I’ve never seen myself on Coronation Street for so long, I love it, but I can’t imagine it will be forever.

‘I’m not sure I’ll be as lucky as William Roache. That is a very specific character and a very specific person. He is amazing and we are all in awe of him.

“Chances are it’s probably not going to happen for me. I really like my job – I love it. It’s a great atmosphere on set. I really like historical dramas. When I left the show, I was doing The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister.

“I love period dramas, so for me that’s my heart. I’d dye my hair brown, I’d cut it off, I just want to be in a corset.

“Put me in a period drama and I’ll be happy.” I recently started watching The Crown from the beginning and I love it.’
