Tina Malone has revealed the secret to staying fit after her 12 stone weight loss.

The Shameless star, 60, who recently admitted drinking 30 to 40 gins a day, dropped from a size 26 to a size six due to gastric band surgery in 2010.

Tina told The Mirror that she ate four small, healthy meals every day, started jogging and focused on eating plenty of fruits, vegetables and protein to keep her feeling full.

She said, “I was skipping meals and eating crap, and even with the band I was gaining weight.

‘You have to eat well to get your nutrients and if you eat only fat and sugar you will gain weight.

“A gastric band doesn’t change your mind or your personality.”

She also told Closer that eating right remains a constant battle and recommends cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help change the way you think about eating and exercising.

Since turning 60, Tina has had a facelift that makes her feel like the “sexiest” she’s ever had in her life.

This also applies in the bedroom, where she admits that “sex only gets better as you get older.”

Tina opened up about her relationship with husband of 13 years, Paul Chase, 40, revealing that they “always had that attraction.”

Despite being on the brink of divorce in 2019, Tina assured that “things are fine now.”

She explained, “Even in times when I disliked him, which we all do in relationships, in the worst of times – he never turned me on. We’ve always had that attraction.

“Sex only gets better as you get older. I’m 60 so I’m comfortable. I like to think I’ve accomplished most things in my life now – and that includes the bedroom! Paul and I still have so much passion, after 13 years you know each other so well. He still gives me butterflies.’

She’s been open about her weight loss, and in 2016 she spoke candidly about how she was assaulted online during her journey.

Tina said at the time, “I’ve taken more abuse with the last stone and a half of weight loss than with my pregnancy, my nine surgeries, or my gastric band.”

Following her weight loss, Tina spent £50,000 in 2015 to remove her excess skin to maintain her new found confidence in herself.
