Timothee Chalamet is set to star in a new film inspired by professional ping-pong player Marty Reisman.
The 28-year-old Oscar nominee, who is currently filming the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, will star in and produce Marty Supreme, an original film from Josh Safdie and A24, according to Variety.
The film is a fictional story inspired by the life of Reisman, who died in 2012 at the age of 82.
Marty Supreme is written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, who produce with Eli Bush and Anthony Katagas.
Safdie previously worked with A24 on his films Uncut Gems and Good Time.

Reisman was an American ping-pong icon, winning the U.S. Men’s Singles Championship in 1958 and 1960 and the U.S. Hardbat Championship in 1997.
He won five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships and won 22 major table tennis titles from 1946 to 2002, including two United States Opens and one British Open.
He became the oldest player ever to win an open national competition in a racquet sport by winning the United States National Hardbat Championship in 1997 at age 67.
Besides his sporting qualities, he was known for his flamboyant style, which included wearing Borsalino hats and Panama hats.
Chalamet first shot to fame when he starred in the 2017 coming-of-age romantic drama Call Me by Your Name, becoming one of the youngest actors ever to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Actor at age 21.
Since Call Me by Your Name, Chalamet has starred in Greta Gerwig’s Ladybird (2017) and Little Women (2019), and landed a role in Wes Anderson’s comedy The French Dispatch (2021).
But the rising talent cemented his status as a franchise superstar with his starring roles in two ambitious films based on the epic sci-fi series Dune, which grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide.
The star is currently in a relationship with 26-year-old Kylie Jenner. It was recently claimed that the reality star wanted to keep her romance with the actor out of the public eye.
