The movie – which will premiere at the festival – is presented in the official competition, Venezia 79, at the gala running from 31 August to 10 September.

Timothée reunited with director Luca Guadagnino, with whom he previously collaborated on Call Me By Your Name, for which he received much critical attention.

Bones & All was based on Camille DeAngelis’ novel of the same name, which was first published in 2015.

The movie will be centered on a pair of cannibals who become lovers and take a road trip across the United States.

Luca spoke about working with Timothée during an interview with Deadline, where he noted that a conversation with the actor during the development process helped change Lee as a character.

‘That conversation made the character more mature and made the movie more mature in turn,’ he recalled.

The filmmaker also praised the performer’s ability to articulate his perspective on the project.

‘As always it was so profoundly inspiring to talk to him because he’s so clever and has such a specific point of view on things,’ he said.

‘I do believe that if you are a filmmaker or a storyteller, you have to work with and around a group of people that are your family, and with whom you create ties that are very deeply familial,’ he stated.

Bones & All is currently scheduled to premiere on Friday during the Venice International Film Festival.

It will also have its wide release in the United States on November 23.

Attracting the biggest stars, the film festival is held annually on the island of the Lido in the Venice Lagoon. With movie screenings taking place in the historic Palazzo del Cinema on the Lungomare Marconi.

This year’s line up will see divisive biopic Blonde, starring Ana De Armas as tragic screen icon Marilyn Monroe, battle it out for the competition’s top accolade.

Brendan Fraser’s moving drama The Whale, where he plays an obese professor, will also compete alongside films starring Cate Blanchett, Hugh Jackman and Colin Farrell.
