Timothee Chalamet divides fans over controversial reaction to a Kylie Jenner question at film festival

Timothée Chalamet set social media on fire after he was asked about his girlfriend Kylie Jenner at the Palm Springs International Film Awards on Friday.

The 29-year-old actor – who was celebrated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the new biopic A Complete Unknown – sparked controversy for the way he sidestepped a question about his high-profile romance.

During an interview with AND During the star-studded party, the Chairman Award winner was asked how he was feeling during awards season.

Instead, The Dune star brushed off the question about his billionaire lady love, saying, “It’s an amazing feeling to be in a room with so much love and so many great colleagues, and people who are fantastic.”

“I like seeing the new wave and the new generation here,” he continued. “I also enjoy seeing everyone holding it [for] decades plus.”

Fans remained divided over whether the omission of the vixen’s name was a subtle put-down or if it was instead a calculated boundary-setting.

“I love how interviews keep asking Kylie and Timothée about each other, looking for tea, and they answer those questions with absolute substance,” one fan wrote. “They said, ‘STAY away, those things!’

Another said the Dune star’s enthusiastic PR training could be why he left off the Kar-Jenner-related question – so as not to cause a stir.

‘PR training is coming through!’ another commented. “As it should be, one question opens the gate to more, that’s none of their business.”

Another eagle-eyed fan said: “He held back his smile when he mentioned her name. He likes those things.’

However, other viewers were confused as to why the New York native kept quiet about the Sprinter founder when the public already knew they were in a relationship.

“I would be so upset if my boyfriend refused to acknowledge me or be seen with me,” one person said from her own perspective.”

Another replied, “I may not be rich, but at least I date men who aren’t ashamed to admit they exist in the same galaxy with me.”

But one user offered a more practical, neutral response: “They can’t win either way. When they talk about the relationship, people will say it’s just a PR relationship. When they are private, he is ashamed of her. It’s clear that the dynamic they have has worked so far.
