Timothée Chalamet breaks his silence on Armie Hammer sexual assault allegations as he appears on the cover of GQ

Timothée Chalamet has addressed the sexual assault allegations against his Call Me by Your Name co-star Armie Hammer.

Hammer, 36, was accused of rape in March 2021, for which he was not charged, but his career suffered irreparable consequences.

During pre-production of Bones and All, a cannibal love story in which Chalamet played an “eater,” reports indicated that Hammer had been accused by several women of sharing sexual fantasies in which he imagined himself as a cannibal.

While reporting on the November issue of GQ, Chalamet told the publication, “I mean, what were the odds that we were going to develop this thing?”

Speaking about when false reports suggested the film was inspired by the news, he said: “It made me feel like, now I really have to do this… Because this is actually based on a book.”

When asked about his personal experience of the allegations against Hammer, Chalamet said, “These things end up being so intensely clicked. Disorienting is a good word.’

Hamer at the time strongly denied the allegation and all other allegations of sexual abuse against him, but his career suffered irreparable consequences.

The Los Angeles County district attorney announced earlier this year that he will not be charged with sexual assault after an ex-girlfriend previously accused him of rape.

Hammer posted a statement on his Instagram account after spokesperson LA DA George Gascon announced he would not be charged due to “insufficient evidence.”

“I am very grateful to the District Attorney’s Office for conducting a thorough investigation and reaching the conclusion that I have maintained all along that no crime was committed,” Hammer wrote.

“I look forward to beginning what will be a long and difficult process of getting my life back on track now that my name has been cleared.”

The Social Network star has been under investigation for sexual assault since February 2021 after his ex-girlfriend, Effie Angelova, 26, accused him of “violently” raping and abusing her in 2017.

Several other women came forward and accused Hammer of being interested in kinky sex and even cannibalism in the wake of Angelova’s claims.

He was dropped by his personal publicist and former agency, as well as multiple projects, following the allegations.

His ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, with whom Hammer has two children, Harper, 8, and Ford, 6, has filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage.

Elsewhere during Chalamet’s interview, he discussed fame and privacy. He said, “You start looking on Instagram, you see people from your high school getting married, friends having kids, and you start saying, this balls-to-the-wall thing, even at this awesome level I’m at, could probably ‘Things haven’t gotten better – you’re still starting to wonder: how long until you have to change?’

However, Chalamet isn’t naive about the way celebrity culture works: “I can’t say it doesn’t matter, because my intense fandom has led me to where I am today.”

It comes shortly after he spent time in Paris with his new love interest, 26-year-old Kylie.

Since making their relationship public at Beyoncé’s Renaissance concert in Los Angeles, the two have continued to perform together on a scattered basis.

In early September, they accompanied each other to a New York Fashion Week dinner hosted by designer Haider Ackermann.

The two sat next to each other during the candlelit meal and both stars were dressed in black.

While neither party has spoken publicly about their pairing, Jenner has been spotted arriving and leaving Chalamet’s LA home throughout the year.

Kylie even recently revealed that her phone background is a very cozy photo of Chalamet kissing her cheek.

And while they’re on the road together, the duo doesn’t shy away from public displays of affection.

She and Chalamet were spotted in the audience at the Renaissance show talking, hugging and sharing lots of kisses.

They were then spotted together at a US Open tennis match in New York City, where they once again indulged in PDA.
