Hundreds of people gathered to say goodbye to a young mother who committed suicide.

Timika Allen, a 26-year-old mother of four from Cairns in north Queensland, died in hospital on Tuesday surrounded by family and friends after self-harm, two days after she injured herself.

Her death prompted an outpouring of tributes to a beautiful soul who brought so much love and light into the lives of all who knew her.

About 250 people gathered at her hospital bedside on Tuesday to say goodbye to Ms Allen after her life support was turned off.

“We kept her alive long enough for everyone to see her,” her maternal grandmother Shirley Tognol told the Message from Cairns.

“She was loved, everyone loved Timeka.”

According to the magazine, Ms Allen was reportedly involved in a dispute with a department of the state government at the time of her death, which has since sparked anger in the local Indigenous community.

A family member has a online fundraising to raise funds for Mrs. Allen’s funeral and memorial arrangements so that she can be buried with the dignity and respect she deserves.

The remaining amount will be used to set up a trust fund for her children.

“She will be deeply missed by all who knew her,” the page reads.

‘The family wants to give Timika the dignified and sincere farewell she deserves.

‘I would like to help raise money to help ease the financial burden of funeral costs for the family during this already difficult time.
