Rudy Gobert sent a not-so-subtle message to longtime NBA referee Scott Foster after calling his fifth foul on him during the Timberwolves’ Game 4 loss to the Nuggets.

The Minnesota center was called for an offensive foul after shoving Jamal Murray as he grabbed a rebound with minutes to play in the Wolves’ 115-107 loss Sunday night.

He briefly flashed the money sign with his hands as he shook his head as he walked through the court.

The referees didn’t notice the gesture, which seemed to imply Foster was in action, but eagle-eyed viewers were quick to point it out while watching the TV broadcast.

It wasn’t the first time Gobert rubbed his fingers together after being fouled by Foster.

Gobert was assessed a costly technical foul after making a money gesture in March

In March, the former Utah player made the same gesture during a game against the Cavaliers late in the fourth quarter.

Gobert was hit with a technical ball by official Natalie Sago, allowing Darius Garland to make a free throw to tie the game.

He doubled down on the March incident in a post-match interview.

“I bite the bullet again,” Gobert said at the time.

“I’ll be the bad guy. I’ll take the fine, but I think it will hurt our game. I know about the betting and everything that keeps getting bigger, but it shouldn’t feel like that.”

However, assistant coach Micah Nori, who came in for the ill Chris Finch, was less than impressed.

“A technical foul with 27 seconds left in the match is quite frankly unacceptable,” he said.

‘That’s how Rudy is, but you have to be smart. He created a visual image that happened automatically. He was clearly frustrated – both teams were – but we have to be smarter.”
