Tim Walz responds to Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris endorsement following presidential debate as he salutes ‘fellow cat owner’
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz responded to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris by thanking his “fellow cat owner.”
Walz, the Democratic nominee for Vice President Kamala Harris, was a guest on MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show Tuesday night, shortly after the presidential debate ended and news broke that Swift had openly endorsed Harris.
“I am incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift, and I say that as a fellow cat owner,” Walz joked after Maddow read him part of Swift’s passionate Instagram post supporting Harris, as reported by Billboard.
He then praised Harris for her “articulate” and “clear-eyed” demeanor during the debate, adding that she does not have the “kind of courage that we need in America to stand up.”
Walz took the opportunity to reflect on the importance of such expressions of support in today’s political climate, adding, “We’ve seen it with Republicans standing up at the DNC.

“We’ve seen it with women who want to keep their private lives private, but are forced to do so because they nearly died because they couldn’t get an abortion during their pregnancy.
“And now you have someone like Taylor Swift, who makes that very clear. This would be the opportunity, Swifties: KamalaHarris.com, go there, get things going.”
Swift, known for her massive influence and devoted fan base as well as her chart-topping singles, took to Instagram to make her political stance clear after a wave of AI-generated content falsely claimed she supported Donald Trump.
In her post, she not only criticized the misuse of artificial intelligence to spread disinformation, but also outlined why she supports Harris and Walz.
She wrote: ‘It was recently brought to my attention that AI of “me” falsely supporting Donald Trump’s presidential campaign had been posted on his site. It really raised my fears around AI and the dangers of spreading disinformation.’
“It led me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my real plans for this election as a voter. The easiest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.”
Swift continued, “I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 presidential election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend.”
“I think she is a steady, talented leader and I believe we can achieve much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.

‘I was so impressed with her choice of running mate @timwalz, who has been advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women’s right to their own bodies for decades.’
As the 2024 election season gets underway, Swift’s involvement marks a significant moment, highlighting the role of celebrities in shaping political discourse.
Meanwhile, Republicans were furious with ABC News hosts David Muir and Linsey Davis for refusing to vet Kamala Harris for her lies about Donald Trump’s positions on IVF.
Muir and Davis repeatedly attempted to fact-check Trump during the debate on issues including the storming of the Capitol and a claim about migrant crime.
However, Harris falsely claimed that Trump opposed in vitro fertilization during the debate.
