Tim Wakefield’s Florida mansion ‘sells for $3.8million’ a year after Red Sox star’s death from cancer

The Florida mansion that once belonged to Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield and his wife Stacy has sold for a reported $3.8 million following the couple’s respective deaths in late 2023 and early 2024.

TMZ was the first to report the sale.

The property, a waterfront mansion initially valued at $3.3 million, is located in Indian Harbor Beach in the exclusive Lansing Island community and features four bedrooms and five bathrooms across 6,242 square feet.

It also has a swimming pool with waterfall, a jacuzzi, an outdoor fireplace and a summer kitchen. It went on the market last Friday.

Tim Wakefield lived in the building when he died of brain cancer in October 2023 at the age of 57.

His widow, Stacy, died five months later of pancreatic cancer. The couple is survived by their two children, Trevor and Brianna.

Tim’s death was the subject of outrage from his former Red Sox teammate Curt Schilling, who himself announced the news of Wakefield’s health against the family’s wishes.

Schilling revealed the information about Wakefield on his podcast, using his Christian faith as an excuse to broadcast such personal news.

“Tim Wakefield, the knuckleball player, is sick,” Schilling said. “And I talked to Doug Mirabelli yesterday, and it’s not a message that Tim asked anyone to share, and I’m not even sure he wants to share it.

“But as a Christian and a man of faith, I have seen prayer work, and that’s why I’m going to talk about it.

‘Tomorrow is never a given. Tim’s wife, Stacy, one of the sweetest women you will ever meet, is very ill with pancreatic cancer.

“We are all thinking of them and praying for her. But recently Tim was diagnosed with a very serious, very aggressive form of brain cancer.”

The Red Sox quickly responded to Schilling, saying, “We are aware of the statements and questions regarding the health of Tim and Stacy Wakefield.

“Unfortunately, this information was shared publicly without their consent.

“Their health is a very personal matter that they wanted to keep private as they continue treatment and work to combat this disease.

“Tim and Stacy appreciate the support and love shown to them and respectfully request privacy at this time.”

Tim died days after Schilling’s announcement and his widow Stacy passed away in February of this year, surrounded by family, at the age of 53.

‘The loss is unimaginable, especially after the loss of Tim less than five months ago. Our hearts are beyond broken,” said a statement released through the Red Sox.

“We will remember Stacy as a strong, loving, thoughtful and kind person, who was as down-to-earth as could be.

“We feel so lucky to have had her in our lives, and take comfort in the fact that she will be reunited with Tim, the love of her life.”

As much as Tim was celebrated for his achievements on the field, both he and Stacy were also appreciated in Boston for their work in the community.

Stacy worked with her husband to raise money for multiple charity groups, including the Red Sox Foundation.

They also worked with the Jimmy Fund, visiting patients and raising money for the children’s cancer charity.
