  • Tim Tszyu suffered the second defeat of his career
  • He was defeated in three rounds by Bakhram Murtazaliev
  • The Australian was knocked down four times in the fight

A stunned Tim Tszyu made a shocking five-word statement following his shock defeat to Bakhram Murtazaliev on Sunday.

The Australian boxer was the big favorite to win the fight, but was defeated by his Russian opponent within three rounds.

The defeat left many wondering where this leaves Tszyu’s career, with the 29-year-old Australian suffering his second ever defeat following his split-decision loss to Sebastian Fundora in March.

Murtazaliev proved the stronger fighter of the pair, knocking Tszyu down three times in the second round, with the latter looking much slower in the ring.

While Tszyu showed his resilience and heart to get back up after every knockdown, Murtazaliev was too powerful for the Australian and used his raw power to beat the Sydneysider to retain his undefeated record and his IBF super welterweight title.

Tszyu’s team would throw in the towel after the Australian star was once again knocked to the canvas after his Russian opponent landed a brutal left hook on his opponent.

The 29-year-old bravely stood up but was met with another barrage of punches from the Russian, with the referee stopping the fight.

Tszyu would also suffer a nasty cut to his scalp during the fight, causing blood to rush down his forehead and into his eyes.

After the defeat, a dejected Tszyu admitted he was shocked by what happened in the ring.

“What the hell just happened?” Tszyu, who was in disbelief, said.

‘What hit me? I couldn’t regroup and… I don’t know, man. S*** ain’t going your way and you just gotta bounce back, you know.

‘I was positive after Fundora.

The result means Tszyu has now lost both of his last two fights, with the Australian admitting Murtazaliev was the better fighter of the night.

He added: “This didn’t go according to script. It was a little different. I felt incredible, to be honest. I felt I had a great preparation.

“So he got me, man. He was the better man of the night and we live and learn.”

The fight shocked others, with Main Event commentator Ben Damon calling the result a “monstrous upset.”

“It’s been devastation in Orlando,” Damon said.

‘Tim Tszyu down four times, and Bakhram Murtazaliev retains his world title in a one-sided defeat.’

The questions now revolve around who Tszyu could fight next after suffering two rebounds losses, with Michael Zerafa now seemingly his best option.

“Every time I enter the ring, I am ready to die here,” he added.

‘No excuses. Boxing isn’t meant to be perfect, but you live and you learn. After the first shot, things didn’t go according to plan.”
