Tim Sherwood leaves Mo Salah OUT of his Premier League team of the season so far – despite the Liverpool forward topping both the goals and assists charts

Tim Sherwood bizarrely left out Mohamed Salah when naming his Premier League team of the season so far.

The former Tottenham boss was tasked with selecting a best XI midway through the campaign, without picking more than one player from the same team.

With Liverpool storming to the top of the table after a phenomenal start under Arne Slot, Sherwood certainly had several candidates to choose from when selecting a Reds representative.

Arguably the most important of these has been Salah, who has already scored 30 goals and tops both the scoring and assist charts for the top flight.

However, Sherwood could not find a place for the 32-year-old in his team and instead selected Trent Alexander-Arnold as his only Liverpool player.

Salah’s omission stunned fans on social media, with many wondering how he could be left out after such a productive start to the season.

One wrote: ‘Bowing over Salah is all it takes to know what kind of football knowledge some pundits actually have.’

Another agreed: ‘Sorry, I really don’t like Liverpool but it’s a crime that Salah isn’t there.’

A third added: ‘Laughable, no Salah. Not to mention Guehi and Bowen on the team. Is Wood a joke to you? What about Wissa and Mbeumo? Robinson also easily takes over Kerkez’s position. A terrible line-up overall.”

With Jordan Pickford selected as target, Alexander-Arnold was joined in defense by Nikola Milenkovic of Nottingham Forest, Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace and Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth.

Sherwood opted for a three-man midfield with Spurs’ Dejan Kulusevski, Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.

For his front three, Sherwood selected Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, West Ham star Jarrod Bowen and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.

Sherwood hit the headlines at the end of last season for an awkward on-pitch interview with Cole Palmer after Chelsea beat Newcastle.

“All you need is a few players to play with,” Sherwood said, followed by an awkward silence as Palmer looked at him with a blank expression.

“I know you can’t say that, but I’ll say it anyway. I just think you need more quality around you.’
