Senator Tim Scott told DailyMail.com that black male voters have been lied to by Democrats for years.
And that is why enthusiasm for Donald Trump among them has never been greater, he says.
With less than a week until Election Day, the South Carolina Republican is traveling the country to attend events with Black voters in swing states on behalf of the ex-president and Republican Senate candidates.
During his travels he regularly hears frustrations from these men who indicate that they feel duped by the Democrats.
“What I often hear is that ‘the Democrats lied to us,’” Scott revealed to DailyMail.com.
What he also hears is a cacophony of support for the former president, an enthusiasm he says he “hasn’t seen for a Republican in at least 30 years.”

Recounting a conversation he had with a Black voter Tuesday morning, Scott said the cost of living, safety and the deadly scourge of fentanyl are all policy priorities.
“This morning I was talking to a black voter who said, ‘Do you know what a black issue is?’ Scott remembered. He said, “high gas prices, another black issue, crime destroying our community, another black issue, fentanyl, killing our friends and neighbors.”
“These are the same issues that conservatives voted for Trump on,” Scott continued.
“I hear a lot of it is actually about gas prices. It’s about the economy, inflation, and not so much about foreign policy,” the Republican revealed.
According to Scott, the Republican Party is the leader on all of these top issues, and he says that’s why Democrats’ most loyal voting bloc — Black voters — are fleeing the party.
And his intuition may be correct, as polls show that black men are turning to Trump in droves compared to historical norms.
A recent poll from the University of Chicago’s GenForward last week found that 26 percent of black men between the ages of 18 and 40 support Trump.
Another poll from the NAACP released last week found that one in five black men plan to support Trump.
This shows that the Republican has overtaken much of the 2020 election, when black voters firmly supported the Democratic party and voted for Biden 92 to 8 percent, according to Pew research.

Scott also noted how Kamala Harris’ campaign is struggling to find an effective attack on Trump to counter his messaging.
Recently, the campaign sought to once again portray Trump as a “racist” after a comedian opening his rally at Madison Square Garden made a joke and called Puerto Rico trash.
But Scott says the people he’s spoken to don’t think the ex-president is overtly biased.
“I want to talk about the desperation in the eyes of the Democrats. They roll out their most powerful card, which is always a race card, where they talk about how racist he is, and yet here’s the truth: no one I know, black men, black women, none of them are talking about Trump being a racist .’
Moreover, when Harris reached black voters, her message was complicated, if not damaging.
On Tuesday, Harris called popular radio host Charlamagne on God’s show “The Breakfast Club” to clarify her position on taxpayer-funded sex change operations for transgender prisoners.
The bizarre scene in which Harris explains her position comes after a pro-Trump ad aired during primetime sports matches criticizing the Democrat for her past support of the proceedings.
In that ad, you can see Charlamagne God and one of his cohosts question Harris about her support for the seemingly niche issues.
“I’ll tell you what, that ad they ran at the football games this weekend claiming that the Vice President supports funding gender transition operations for all prisoners and migrants in the US, that was insane,” Charlamagne said in his show.
He also admitted that the Trump ad was persuasive: “When you hear the narrator say that Kamala supports taxpayer-funded gender reassignment for prisoners, in that one sentence I thought, ‘No, I don’t want my tax dollars going there.’ ‘ ‘
Although the two discussed the effectiveness of the ad and did not necessarily agree with its content, their exchange has since been featured in many TV spots.
On Tuesday, Harris came on the show to call Trump’s ads “misinformation and disinformation.”
Kamala Harris has seen little support from black men who typically support Democrats to the hilt. Former President Barack Obama recently helped her on the campaign trail

Scott said that ad, and the broader message behind it, has been effective among black voters.
‘TV commercials in which Charlamagne tha God talks about her position [on] transgender surgery for prisoners. I mean, here’s the modern thinking, young people listening to the radio and wondering what the heck is going on.’
“For at least 80 years, Democrats have consistently told black voters to sit down, shut up, and remember to vote blue,” Scott continued.
“That’s haunting them now.”
