Senate candidates pitted against each other in a brutal race in Ohio are in dead heat in new polls, as Wisconsin GOP Sen. Ron Johnson leads his Democratic opponent by one point.

Republicans are pushing resources for both races to hold the seats as they try to seize control of the 50-50 Senate while trying to capture Democrat-occupied seats in Nevada, New Hampshire or Georgia.

Johnson leads Democrat Mandela Barnes 50-49, after Republican groups hammered the Democrat on crime issues in the state, according to a new CNN poll.

That lead is among the likely voters. Barnes is ahead, 48-45, among registered voters on the Midwestern battlefield.

Yet Johnson has crossed the 50 percent threshold in the RealClear Politics poll average after a furious debate in which, when asked to mention something admirable about his opponent, he said he had “turned on America.”

Ohio Republican JD Vance, who is demanding that Republicans try to force President Biden to rebuild the border wall if his party takes control, is 47 percent tied to Democratic Rep. in a new Marist poll. Tim Ryan.

The two men face each other Tuesday night in Columbus at a town hall hosted by Fox News after they clashed on the debate stage when Ryan accused Vance of lack of self-esteem by allowing former President Trump to say that he “kiss my a**’ on a rally stage.

The Wisconsin poll follows a Marquette University poll last week in which Johnson led 52-46.

Democrats began hitting Johnson last week with ads highlighting his comments on Jan. 6.

“I will never forget January 6, watching my fellow law enforcement officers defend the Capitol,” retired police captain George Silverwood said on the scene. “And then five officers died. But Ron Johnson makes up excuses for rioters who tried to overthrow our government, even calling them “peaceful protests.”

The battlefield polls come as Republicans take the lead in a series of “general” congressional polls, when respondents are asked which party they prefer in November’s election.

That has prompted forecasters to raise their forecasts of the possibility of a GOP “wave” that could put Republicans in control of the House — a move that would impact policies from abortion to Ukrainian aid, and Biden could place for a series of investigations.

In Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer leads her Republican opponent, Trump-backed candidate Tudor Dixon, 52 to 46 in a new CNN poll released Monday, in a conflict to lead a state that plays a key role in the presidential election.
