Tim Minchin has revealed how he fulfilled his “lifetime dream” of working with Emma Thompson in the upcoming Matilda movie.
The Australian comedian, 57, composed the score for the 1996 remake of the Roald Dahl classic starring Thompson as headteacher Miss Trunchbull.
“She just threw herself into this role so hard,” he said 9Honey about the Oscar-winning British actress.

“I was listening to her sing these songs and I was like, ‘You’re going to kill your voice’ and she just said ‘Rahhhh’.
“And I’ve loved her all my life, so this is so exciting.”
An all-new take on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical, Matilda The Musical by Roald Dahl tells the story of an extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination, who takes a stand to change her story with miraculous results.
The film was written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin from his musical adaptation of the book.

The musical became an instant hit when it opened at RSC’s Courtyard Theater in Stratford in November 2010; after which it moved to the Cambridge Theater in London.
Minchin added that he was just trying not to “mess it up” and had “no idea” it would be running 12 years later when he first wrote the music for the show.
