Tim Krul returns to the Premier League with Luton as the former Newcastle and Norwich goalkeeper becomes the club’s tenth new signing this summer

Former Dutch international Tim Krul has joined Premier League new boys Luton after leaving Norwich.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper spent five seasons at Carrow Road and was part of the Canary Islands teams that earned promotion to the top flight by winning the championship in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
Krul joins James Shea, Thomas Kaminski and Matt Macey in the Hatters’ goalkeeping department as the club embarks on its first Premier League campaign.
In an interview with the club websiteKrul revealed that he is excited to be working together fellow Flemish stopper Kaminski as the pair try to compete for the club’s number 1 spot.

‘It’s been a whirlwind for the club; I spoke to Carlton Morris and he spoke very highly of what is happening at this club.
‘I also know Thomas Kaminski, it’s good to talk to him in a little Dutch-Flemish. It’s so important to have competition for places. If you look at the Premier League teams, they have a lot of competition for sport and it shouldn’t be any different here.
Although summer mate Kaminski started the club’s Premier League opener against Brighton last weekend, Rob Edwards insisted that Krul wants to play his part on the pitch.
“Tim is a leader and a top goalkeeper who is still very ambitious and very hungry. He wants to play.
“It’s great to have someone of his level in the group with that ambition and to be so driven, and it will add great competition to the goalkeeping department, which is what we wanted.
“I am very happy because he is a good person, with a lot of experience at this level that is important to us. Lately we have brought in some good experience and Tim is definitely giving us that, in addition to being a good goalkeeper and leader.
The 35-year-old was also famously part of the Dutch side that reached the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup
“I’ve said how vital the position is and I’m delighted we’ve been able to sign two good goalkeepers to add real competition.”
Krul was part of Louis Van Gaal’s Dutch team that finished third at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Although former Manchester United boss chose Jasper Cillessen as his number 1, Krul was introduced as an extra-time substitute in their quarter-final tie with Costa Rica and saved two penalties to help his side progress to the semi-finals.
