Tilda Swinton daughter Honor Swinton-Byrne says she is ‘grateful’ for being a nepo baby

‘It’s very important to own it’: Tilda Swinton’s daughter Honor, 25, says she’s ‘grateful’ to be a fake baby after getting the role opposite her mother

Honor Swinton-Byrne has revealed that she “owns” the fact that she’s a fake baby and is “grateful” for the opportunities she’s had.

The actress, 25, who is the daughter of playwright John Byrne and Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton, said it’s “important” for her to admit she’s had her parents’ help.

Honor, who starred in The Souvenir alongside her mother, admitted that she “was considered” for the role because of her connections, but has since been offered other roles due to her talent.

She said The times: ‘It is very important to me to own it [nepotism]. I fully admit it and am thankful for being considered for The Souvenir because of my connections.

“But at the same time, I keep acting and getting jobs because I have skill. I still do it.’

Honor explained how she was cast by director Joanna Hogg, a friend of her mother’s, while working as a florist’s assistant in Inverness.

She explained: ‘I met Joanna at Caffè Nero in Berwick-upon-Tweed. I had no idea she was challenging me for the part. From what I understand she had auditioned so many people and not quite seen what she wanted. She saw the self-awareness of the 18-year-old me and, yes, I get it.’

Honor played Julie in The Souvenir, a young film student who becomes romantically involved with a complicated and unreliable man, while Tilda played her mother.

The beauty gushed that it wasn’t daunting to play opposite her famous mom, but actually “great fun.”

Honor went on to say that her mother is naturally a stylish “posh” person, even “when she’s in her pajamas.”

The actress revealed that “nothing is off limits” from Tilda’s wardrobe and joked that she managed to “make her feet the same size” so they could share shoes.

In addition to her acting and modeling career, Honor recently completed a four-year psychology course at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

She revealed that it was difficult to go to college due to attending Drumduan, a Rudolf Steiner school, where the emphasis is on teaching with imagination and creativity and there were no exams.

She explained, “When we were 18, we all had a TED-style talk. I did mine on the neurology, psychology and physiology of dance. I applied to four Scottish universities and was rejected from all but Heriot-Watt. They took a gamble and it paid off, because I got a 2:1.’

Honor is one of the twins Tilda had with playwright John. Her brother Xavier is also in the movie business but works in the props department.

Tilda and John separated in 2005 after 14 years, but continued to live together while Tilda worked on several blockbusters.

An unconventional living situation, the pair even lived together while Tilda moved on to her next lover, Sandro Kopp, who was 18 years her junior.

Speaking of her living situation at the time, Tilda said, “My children’s father and I are good friends and I’m in a very happy other relationship now.”

And we’re all really good friends. It’s a very happy situation.

Life doesn’t have to be complicated. You just have to have compassion for yourself and stop blaming yourself when things get complicated.”
