Passersby filmed the moment an elderly supermarket worker bravely stands up to a woman who allegedly steals a cart full of groceries.
The chaotic video recently shared on TikTok shows a staff member at Riverton Coles, in the southern suburbs of Perth, getting into a fight with another woman.
The shopper removes her own sweater to free herself from the worker, dropping her bag in the process.
The TikTok video shows two Coles staff members, one elderly, as they try to stop a woman who is allegedly stealing a cart full of groceries.
The barefoot woman then runs to the brim-filled trolley and attempts to push another elderly member of staff as she tries to retrieve the items.
The clip shows a crowd of onlookers gathered outside the supermarket as the woman takes a large box from the cart and heads towards the parking lot, leaving the rest of the items behind.
Many commenters on the clip said they would not have weighed in.
‘I used to do everything I could for my job until I got hurt and then the job did the bare minimum to support me. Now, I would never put myself in a risk like this,” one commenter said.
That’s what you’re supposed to do. Coles does not want you to intervene in case they are responsible for the injuries you suffer,” said another.
“Good job to the staff,” added a third.
Other commenters said the woman supposedly wouldn’t be stealing groceries unless she really needed to.
“Just let it go, Coles is probably insured or budgeted for this kind of thing,” one person said.
‘With the constant increase in the cost of living, this is expected to become more and more frequent,’ added another.
