A bedtime drink recipe called ‘the sleepy girl mocktail’ has taken the internet by storm, with dozens of people swearing it guarantees a good night’s sleep.
Los Angeles-based Gracie Norton posted her step-by-step guide on TikTok to help her fellow insomniacs prepare the unusual concoction.
The two main ingredients in the drink are magnesium powder and pure cherry juice, but the influencer also adds lemon-lime prebiotic soda, pomegranates, rosemary and a slice of orange as an aesthetic accent to complete the drink.
Gracie suffered from insomnia due to her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and credits the drink for helping her finally get her sleep habits back on track.

In the now-viral TikTok, the content creator started by placing a scoop of magnesium powder into her glass cup before adding a quarter cup of pure cherry juice and a prebiotic lime-lime soda.
Gracie then added pomegranates, rosemary and a slice of orange as a visual accent.
She stirred all the ingredients together and took a sip before finishing the instructional video.
The overlapping text in her clip read: “POV: You realized that pure tart cherry juice and magnesium are a match made in Heaven for a good night’s sleep.”
Gracie added even more context to the caption, writing, “The only time I have trouble sleeping is right at the end of my luteal phase!
‘This works WONDERFULLY!! (not something I plan on drinking every night, just towards the end of my luteal phase!)
‘The luteal phase is the second half of your menstrual cycle. It starts after ovulation and ends on the first day of your period Healthline.

She’s been telling me ever since Good morning America: ‘I have been making mocktails for a few years because of the effects of alcohol on my hormones and have always enjoyed relaxing with a drink before going to bed.
“Seeing people recreate my recipes and incorporate my wellness practices has brought so much joy to my life.”

Nutritionist Melissa Pfeister called cherry juice a “superfood,” explaining, “Tart cherries, however, naturally contain high amounts of melatonin, the ‘sleepy hormone.’
Nutritionist Melissa Pfeister told the outlet that cherry juice is a “superfood.”
‘Cherries, whether sweet or sour, are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
‘However, sour cherries naturally contain high amounts of melatonin, the ‘sleepy hormone’, which makes our bodies feel sleepy.
‘An amino acid called tryptophan is used by our bodies to produce melatonin and serotonin.
‘The other reason tart cherries are called a rock star is because they help you sleep naturally, (because) they are also packed with anti-inflammatory properties, which lower our stress hormones, allowing us to relax more completely.’
Melissa added that magnesium “not only promotes physical relaxation, but also mental relaxation.”
She did warn to check what type of magnesium you are taking.
‘Magnesium glycinate helps with relaxation, while magnesium citrate can help you go to the toilet.’
She recommended drinking an unsweetened juice without sugar when it comes to Gracie’s recipe, and consuming the mocktail 30 minutes to an hour before going to bed.
