TikTok star Taylor Rousseau Grigg’s cause of death revealed by family

TikTok star Taylor Rousseau Grigg’s cause of death has been revealed – less than a week after her ‘sudden and unexpected’ death on Friday, October 4.

Grigg’s family confirmed this TODAY Thursday that the 25-year-old influencer died due to complications related to Addison’s disease and asthma.

Months before her death, Grigg admitted to her followers that she had been battling a mystery illness since August 2023 – telling her audience: ‘I’m fighting for my life.’

Addison’s disease is a rare condition that occurs when the adrenal glands no longer produce enough of the hormones cortisol and aldosterone, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Adrenal insufficiency can be life-threatening, and symptoms – including extreme fatigue, weight loss and low blood pressure – can develop slowly or quickly.

This is not a cure for Addison’s disease, but patients typically take replacement hormones to treat the chronic condition.

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes narrowing and inflammation of the airways, making it difficult to breathe.

Days after her death, another terrifying video emerged online of Grigg discussing her declining health.

The movie was filmed less than two months before her shock death at the age of 25.

In the August 8 video, she responded to fans’ claims that she didn’t look as happy as she used to before marrying Cameron Grigg, a rodeo bull rider.

At the time, she revealed that she became ill shortly after marrying Cameron, whom she called an “amazing husband” and “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

Still, she defended herself and said she didn’t always have to put on a happy face for her 1.4 million followers before her tragic death last weekend.

She also explained that although she had been sick with the unknown disease since August last year, it wasn’t until sometime this year that she really knew what was wrong with her. This meant months and months of uncertainty and terror, she said.

“Stress is what did this to me, or one of the things that did this to me,” Taylor said in the heartbreaking video. “You see, I’ve been sick the whole time we’ve been married and I only found out what was going on this year… so I struggled the whole time feeling like I was going to die.”

Cameron announced Taylor’s death on Instagram on Saturday, but did not reveal how she died.

“Over the past year, Taylor has faced more pain and suffering than most people experience in a lifetime. And despite that, she has still been so light and has always brought joy to everyone around her,” Cameron wrote.

The 24-year-old avid hunter added, “She is no longer in pain, but her body is made whole in the name of Jesus. We can praise God that she will endure no more suffering and that she is truly freed from these earthly chains! She is whole and perfectly made! I’m clinging to the fact that I know we’ll see her again! And we’ll get to spend all of eternity together!’

Cameron has set up a GoFundMe to cover hospital and funeral costs, which has already raised $40,579 toward a $100,000 goal.

Lauri Rousseau, Taylor’s mother, told DailyMail.com that her daughter never told her audience exactly what illness she had, partly because she hoped for a miracle.

“She was waiting for a miracle,” Lauri said. “Unfortunately, her miracle is that she is with Jesus.”

Taylor said in the August 8 video that she didn’t want to be specific about her diagnosis because she didn’t want to be bombarded with advice and fake medications.

“In the past, I found myself doing things because people on the internet told me to be this way or to do this,” she said. “I’m done.”

Taylor was more candid with her audience than ever in the video, revealing the pain she was going through.

“I feel like I’m fighting for life every day, and if I didn’t know what was happening to me, I’d be in bed writhing in pain and just wanting to die,” she said through tears . “I just wanted it to end, and I don’t necessarily feel that way right now.”

She added, “And it just sucks because I’m 24 years old. I should be in my prime! I should be able to carry my suitcase up the stairs. I should be able to walk or run to the mailbox. And those are just the things I can’t really do right now.’

Taylor posted a video on September 4 announcing she was turning 25. In it she synchronizes the words: ‘Don’t worry, everything will be fine.’

This video in particular received a lot of attention from her fans, who flooded the comments to remember her.

“Forever 25 beautiful angel,” one person wrote.

“It’s crazy how much someone you’ve never met can have such an impact on your life… Rest in peace Tay,” wrote another.

“That she came across my FYP after she left the world…” wrote a third.

In another video from August, she captioned it “Daily Thoughts” – Taylor again addressed comments from people saying she wasn’t the same person after her illness.

‘No, I’m the same person. “I’m not different at all,” she said. “I think the biggest change for me personally is that in the past you guys have seen me constantly in fight or flight mode, and that’s exactly what the doctor told me.”

This “fight-or-flight” mode and constant stress, she said, is what “triggered the onset of my condition.”

March 16 was the day the Geaux Sauvage founder revealed she had been hospitalized and fitted with a V60 ventilator “after a life of struggle.” [and] near-death experiences.’

After Taylor’s death, her older sister Bailey Wagner shared a slideshow on Instagram in which she vowed to continue her legacy: “From holding you when you came home from the hospital for the first time, to holding you when you left the hospital for the last time left… and hold you all the times in between. My beautiful little girl, I’m just not ready to let go yet.”

Rousseau’s last TikTok post on September 26 was dedicated to taking her beloved Pit Bull, Baby, to the vet.

The Texan – who also owned Sauvage Lashes – is also survived by her younger sister Trinity Rousseau.
