TikTok star Jehane Thomas tragically dies at age of 30 following months of crippling migraines

A mom of two who rose to fame on TikTok has tragically passed away at the age of 30 after months of crippling migraines.

Jehane Thomas, from Doncaster, boasted more than 66,700 followers on the video-sharing platform – where she uploaded videos about her daily life, such as preparing her sons’ lunches and sharing purchases on the street.

According to the social media star’s loved ones, her death on Friday was “totally unexpected” and has left her family “heartbroken”.

For the past few months, Jehana has been documenting her health issues on TikTok, explaining how she was recently diagnosed with optic neuritis.

The extremely painful condition is caused by inflammation of the optic nerve, which carries messages from the eye to the brain.

Jehane Thomas, from Doncaster, who was known for sharing healthy family content on the social media platform, died Friday after complaining of migraines and illnesses for months, Yorkshire Live reports.

Jehane had been in and out of the hospital for the past few weeks, keeping her followers updated on her treatment.

In her latest video on TikTokwhich was shared four days ago, Jehane was in hospital, waiting for surgery for her condition.

‘I can’t lift my head without wanting to be sick and I can’t walk, I have to be driven everywhere. This is how bad this pain is,” the mother wrote in the video’s caption.

Jehane had been admitted to the emergency room and awaiting surgery at the time she recorded the video.

She had just been released from a week-long stay in hospital when what she called the pressure migraines caused by her condition returned, forcing her to return herself to the hospital.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help fund the funeral of the mother of two, who is survived by her sons Isaac, three, and Elijah, one, who have raised £9,585 so far.

Jehane’s best friend Alyx Reast has led online tributes, writing, ‘Jehane Thomas was a 30-year-old mother of two boys when she died suddenly on 3/17/2023.

“Despite having suffered from migraines and bouts of illness for several months, her passing was completely unexpected and we are all heartbroken.

‘Her two children have been left without their mother. Jehane – I promised I would do what I can for those boys, so that’s what I promise to do. I love you.’

What is optic neuritis and how does it affect the optic nerve?

Optic neuritis is a condition caused by inflammation of the optic nerve. The nerve is responsible for transmitting information from the eye to the brain.

The condition is associated with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), but not everyone who suffers from optic neuritis will have or develop MS. It is possible to have optic neuritis and not develop further symptoms.

The symptoms of the condition vary from person to person. In some cases, this can lead to blurred vision or complete loss of vision.

While it can affect both eyes, it often affects only one.

People with optic neuritis may notice a blind spot or blurry spot in their center of vision, and this can also affect color vision.

In some cases, the condition can cause pain, especially when you move your eyes. The pain can last for a few days and does not affect sleep.

“Life is so incredibly cruel. I got the biggest shock when I read this absolutely heartbreaking. Keep your loved ones close to you, sleep tight beauty,’ said one.

Jehane had spoken about her condition on social media, revealing in a post shared on March 5, “I was diagnosed with optic neuritis a few months ago after being told for almost two years that my migraines were stress related.

“They thought I had MS at the time, which was ruled out (for now), but now the pressure in my head is literally knocking me off my feet.”

In the same post, she revealed that she could count on her parents’ support to help with childcare when her condition left her unable to care for her children on her own.

“I want to start my thank yous by saying a big thank you to my mom and dad who are always there to help me with the boys.

“I hate being swept off my feet with a migraine or illness, but they will always be the first to take the guys out for a few hours and I’m so thankful you’re both there,” she said.
