TikTok appears to have gone down this morning, leaving frustrated users around the world unable to access the popular video app.

According to DownDetector, a website that monitors such outages, the problems started around 09:40 GMT (04:40 ET).

Nearly 3,000 complaints have been registered about the app, which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance.

Overall, 53 percent of users with issues reported problems with the app itself, 32 percent with their feed, and 15 percent with their server connection.

Users in cities across Britain have reported problems, including those in London and Bristol.

Nikita Emma wrote: “Tiktok seems to be broken, couldn’t play video repeatedly, I can still scroll, but my toilet break was much faster than usual… So every cloud and all.”

Twitter user Lichen Subscryb added, “Is someone else’s tiktok disabled? Mine won’t play videos’.

Another wrote: “Is TikTok down or not because it keeps saying “cannot play video”. what should I do with my life now.’

DownDetector collects reports of outages from multiple sources, including social media and mobile apps.

TikTok has not yet revealed the cause of the problem.

Last November, the video app suffered an hour-long outage, affecting thousands of users in the UK.
