TikTok chef sparks outrage after revealing her controversial method for making ‘fluffy’ scrambled eggs
An American amateur chef has infuriated foodies on social media after suggesting the best way to make scrambled eggs is to boil them in water.
The TikTok creator, who goes by the social media name @lilsipper, filmed a video of her making scrambled eggs in a very avant-garde way.
In the video, amateur chef Bethany is seen pouring beaten eggs into a pan of boiling water, instructing users to “simmer” them once submerged.
She described the result of the strange methodology as making “the fluffiest scrambled eggs.”
The video shows her pouring beaten eggs into boiled water, where they appear to form a large omelette in the pan before congealing into a dripping mound of eggs.

The unusual recipe consists of pouring beaten eggs into boiling water and cooking until firm
“It’s almost impossible to overcook your eggs so you get perfect eggs every time,” the user said as she drained the water from her water-soaked eggs.
“It’s similar to the egg drop soup technique, but you’re actually making scrambled eggs.”
But while some may look grimly at the TikTok creator’s method, Bethany is clearly doing something right: She’s written a cookbook and hosts a food podcast called Digest This.
She has 1.3 million followers on Instagram and describes her recipes as ‘healthy’ and designed for ‘healthy digestion’.
The video caught the attention of viewers on social media who were shocked to see the boiled eggs dripping into the water.
One user jokingly wrote: ‘Not even salt and pepper?! Who hurt you?’ while another wrote: ‘As someone who makes scrambled eggs almost every day. this hurts me.’
A third wrote: ‘Is cooking oil so expensive you have to use water.’
“Boiled scrambled eggs, unseasoned, are diabolical,” a fourth joked.

It’s not the first time bizarre egg-making methods have put people off the otherwise popular breakfast ingredient.
Last summer, 20 million people were chased out of hotels after seeing a video showing them being made on a large scale.
Trecy La Cayenne shared a video from an unidentified hotel kitchen, showing a chef making “fake” scrambled eggs from a plastic bag.
The chef is shown pulling the blue bag containing ready-to-eat eggs from the freezer and poking holes in it with a bread knife.
It is then placed in the microwave for an unknown amount of time, before being transferred to the oven, then broken down and finally placed in a serving dish.

“This is so gross,” Trecy wrote in the video’s caption.
“Unless it’s fresh, don’t eat it,” she warned hotel visitors as she showed photos of the egg mixture being poured from large industrial food bags.
For a much tastier egg recipe, Lee Holmes, a holistic chef, shared how she made the famous breakfast for the late Queen Elizabeth using some creative yet delicious ingredients.
The Australian chef reportedly received the recipe from a close friend who worked as a royal chef.
The recipe included additions of nutmeg, lemon zest and chopped kippers to make a royal standard breakfast.
