Melbourne baker Tigga MacCormack (pictured) has kickstarted the latest foodie trend after sharing her 15-minute crown made with iconic Aussie treats.
The baker made the inexpensive cake with ingredients from Woolworths (left), all of which cost less than $20. She used a jam roll from Woolworths, lamingtons, strawberry jam from Cottee, cream, raspberries, strawberries and a Flake to make the festive wreath (right)
The baker used Woolworths jam roll, lamingtons, Cottee’s strawberry jam, cream, raspberries, strawberries and a flake to make the crown.
‘You know when you want to do something and you want it to be awesome, but you don’t want it to take any time? Well, that was me when I was doing this,’ she said.
I’ve called it scramington crown. ‘Scramington’ because it is parchment and lamington together.’
To make the festive dessert, Tigga cut her parchment into 12 pieces and cut six lamingtons in half to make 12.
Then he arranged the alternate candies on a wooden board and uttered a new cry into the spaces between them.
She decorated the crown with strawberries, raspberries, and a crushed flake.
Tigga mixed water and strawberry jam and drizzled it all over the dessert.
‘yum. Really. look at it, it looks so good,’ said the proud baker.
“I took it to an afternoon tea, it took me 15 minutes to make it and it was completely demolished.”
His followers loved the creative recipe.
“And a new Australian icon was born,” said one woman.
‘I’m lovin ‘it. Absolutely 100 percent doing this as my Christmas dessert wreath this year, with mini meringues to fall apart,” wrote another.
‘Have a little Christmas this year as we don’t want the fuss. I think we’ll give it a chance,” one man commented.
However, many confused people from outside Australia didn’t really understand lamingtons.
“Your pies are amazing but there’s a reason no one else in the world eats lamingtons,” one man wrote.
“I’m not sure where you’re from, but I can tell that a lot of people eat lamingtons,” Tigga replied.
