Fans tuning into the PGA Championship this week may do a double take when they see Tiger Woods take to the green on Thursday.

The 48-year-old arrived at Valhalla Golf Club on Sunday to take part in a practice session ahead of his return to the Kentucky course for the second major golf of the year.

The event’s official social media account shared footage of Woods’ arrival, showing him taking some practice shots on the social platform X.

However, it wasn’t his swing or shots that drew attention to him, but it was the unexpected and uncharacteristic look he was rocking.

The golfing veteran who usually keeps a close shave showed that his lifelong decision not to have a beard was a voluntary one as he showed off a grown-out goatee.

Whether the five-time Masters winner will keep the goatee for the tournament or shave it off before Thursday is unknown.

Many expected Woods to appear at the Kentucky venue this week, as the golf pro indicated after the Masters that he planned to play in this year’s PGA Championship.

Woods is very familiar with Valhalla as he is a former champion and he hopes he can emulate that success this week.

Woods claimed his first and only victory on the course in 2000 when he defeated Bob May in a three-hole playoff in the PGA Championship.

The American hopes to find glory again in Louisville, but he encounters one of the strongest golf fields.

Woods is expected to tee off in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday, May 15 at 9 a.m

2024 Masters winner Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm are among the other golf heavyweights scheduled to perform in Louisville this week.

For fans wanting a glimpse of Wood’s new look, the Northern Irish man will tee off in the first round of the competition on Wednesday, May 15 at 9am.

Woods will be in for a treat if he manages to find form again as the winner will receive a significant amount of money from the $17 million prize pool.

The payout for this year’s competition is expected to increase from last year’s tournament, in which Brooks Koepka finished at the top of the leaderboard to claim the $3,150,000 prize.
