Tiger Woods gets lifetime exemption for special events on PGA tour
Tiger Woods has been given a lifetime exemption from the PGA Tour for his signature events.
Woods, 48, has won 82 PGA titles in his career, including 15 majors, but his ranking has plummeted in recent years as he has struggled with health problems.
From next season, however, Woods will be guaranteed a spot in the Tour’s eight $20 million events as a player who has reached an exceptional lifetime performance threshold of 80. [plus] career wins,” a memo to the players read.
Those events include the RBC Heritage and Wells Fargo Championship.
The events will have a limited number of fields, although the PGA board will also approve a minimum of 72 players, according to reports.

Woods has barely played this season, only participating in The Masters, PGA Championship and US Open, as well as the Genesis Invitational, from which he withdrew due to the flu.
The legendary golfer missed the cut at the US Open last weekend, while his friend Rory McIlroy came agonizingly close to winning the tournament.
The match was ultimately won for the second time by Bryson DeChambeau.
While Woods’ fame remains enormous, it has been some time since he won a major.
His last major win came in 2019 when he won The Masters in stunning fashion, while his most recent major victory before that came at the 2008 US Open.
He is tied with Sam Snead for the most PGA Tour wins of all time.
Woods has also parlayed his fame and success into his own golf apparel brand, Sun Day Red, which went on sale in May.
