Tiger Woods fears ending his career ‘limping around like a tired old horse’ and is ‘p***ed’ at the state of his game, claims close friend

Tiger Woods is feeling frustrated by the state of his game and worried about the end of his career as he battles to extend his playing days.

Woods, 48, recently missed the cut at the PGA Championship in May and also failed to make the weekend of The Masters in April.

Now a good friend has the New York Post about what goes on in the head of the 15-time national champion.

“It’s been setback after setback for him, and it’s weighing heavily on him,” the friend said. “He’s really frustrated trying to figure out how to get back.

“He got picked on himself (during the PGA Championship). He has to do better. He would hate to see his career end just sitting around like a tired old horse. He doesn’t want to be embarrassed. He still wants to be a force.”

Woods had to undergo surgery after The Masters in 2023 to alleviate symptoms of plantar fasciitis.

Woods was injured in 2021 when his car went off a suburban Los Angeles road at more than 80 miles per hour, crushing his right leg so badly that he said doctors were considering amputation.

The source close to Woods also said that while he is more interested in his 15-year-old son Charlie’s game, he is cautious about putting too much pressure on the teen’s shoulders.

“It’s almost funny watching Tiger sometimes,” the source said of him as he watched his son on the course. ‘He gets so excited when he watches.

“If there’s a bad shot, he’ll wince. But he keeps his mouth shut a lot; his father was legendary, but perhaps pushed Tiger too much.

‘Tiger wants to be a balance between pushing, but also supporting and nurturing. He’s trying not to put too much pressure on Charlie.’

Woods has also been linked with taking over as US captain for the next Ryder Cup, to be held at Bethpage in New York next year.

DailyMail.Com reported earlier in May that while Woods had hinted the role might not be the right fit for him as the PGA Tour and LIV continued their power struggle, he was ready for more conversations about the vacancy.

Seth Waugh, CEO of PGA of America, emphasized that Woods will not rush into a call, explaining: “We’ve had conversations for months.

‘We have also had discussions with the Ryder Cup committee, several discussions about potential captains and a list of potential captains. You know, Tiger, has been pretty clear.

“I think we all know he can be quite focused, and that’s one of his many superpowers: his ability to tunnel and decide.

“And he doesn’t do anything that he isn’t fully committed to, and we fully respect that. And he has a lot on his plate right now.

‘He is obviously very active on the PGA Tour side (in their negotiations with the Saudi Arabian financiers of the LIV circuit).
