Joe Exotic, a former zookeeper, has written a letter to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, asking for his help in getting out of jail due to their shared nickname.
The Netflix star, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, is currently serving a 21-year prison sentence after being found guilty of a murder-for-hire plot against rival Carole Baskin.
But he seems to believe Burrow owes him a helping hand, as some fans are calling the Cincinnati signal caller “The Tiger King,” which happens to be Exotic’s nickname.
In a letter Addressed to Burrow and shared with X, formerly known as Twitter, Exotic announced his 2024 presidential campaign in March and argued that “Tiger King is my trademark and intellectual property.”

“I see the news, the magazines and yourself calling you the Tiger King,” Exotic wrote in the letter.
“Everyone in the world is exploiting me and my trademarks while I sit innocently in a US federal prison. I was the Tiger King before you graduated from high school. Tiger King is my trademark and intellectual property. My life has been destroyed… while you all distract from the fame and attention of my life’s work.”
Exotic added that he believes he is wrongly imprisoned, and urged Burrow to do a “good deed” and give him $20,000 to pay his lawyers.
“Since everyone enjoys the fame of being the Tiger King, I am wrongly suffering in prison in a cage,” Exotic wrote. “How about you do a good deed and help me raise $20,000 for a down payment to hire lawyers.”
He further claimed that Burrow could get good karma if he agrees to help Exotic.
“Maybe if you pay it forward, God can help you get to the Super Bowl this year,” Exotic wrote.
The Bengals could use some good karma after falling to 0-2 in a 27-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
Burrow appeared to limp at the end of the match and later revealed that he had suffered another calf injury.

Despite his on-field troubles, Burrow is in a good position to give the Tiger King a helping hand (or a large sum of money) after signing a record $275 million contract last week, making him the NFL’s highest-ever player is. .
But even with his deep pockets, it’s far from likely that Burrow would be willing to support Exotic’s cause after distancing himself from the nickname last year.
When Burrow was asked last November about his thoughts on his Tiger King nickname, he said, “I don’t really like that one.
‘I don’t like that show. I haven’t seen the show because I don’t like seeing animals in cages, I don’t really like that. So I haven’t seen the show, so I don’t like that nickname.”
The American media personality was convicted on 17 federal charges of animal cruelty and two counts of attempted murder-for-hire in his plot to kill nemesis and Big Cat Rescue owner, Carole Baskin, in 2019.
The case was the focus of the highly popular 2020 Netflix series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness.
