Tia Mowry clarifies THOSE remarks about her and twin sister Tamera no longer being ‘close’

Tia Mowry is now clarifying her recent comments about not being that ‘close’ with her twin sister Tamera Mowry after it raised concerns about their relationship.

The actress, 46, said We weekly Tuesday that she referred to the way her bond with Tamera has changed due to the physical distance between them.

Tia lives in Los Angeles, while Tamera has since moved to Napa, California with her husband Adam Housley and their two children.

“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I wanted to say: I think that as we all get older, we have our own families and the kids should be able to lean on them,” Tia explained.

“We’re starting to take on new roles and responsibilities in our lives. That’s what it was all about.”

She continued, “Sometimes in these transitions in life, you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that’s not the case. That’s called life.”

Tia stressed how much she loves her sister and their “beautiful bond.”

“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a close bond and a beautiful connection. But that’s the point. That’s life, and that happens to a lot of families,” she explained.

As for the reaction to her comments, Tia admitted that she and Tamera “didn’t find it surprising” and that they are used to being “taken out of context.”

‘When you’ve been in this industry for 30-plus years, things always get taken out of context and it just is what it is.

“All I can do is control my behavior and be the best person I can be, and that’s both of us,” she said.

“We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been our whole lives. So why would we change that now?”

She made her first comments in the latest teaser trailer for her upcoming reality series My Next Act, in which she discusses her post-divorce struggles after leaving ex-husband Cory Hardrict.

When she dropped off her six-year-old daughter Cairo to spend time with her father, she burst into tears.

“Being alone was the hardest part of my divorce,” she said in an interview.

“It’s times like these where I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and that I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.”

Her first comments about her relationship with Tamera came in the latest teaser trailer for her upcoming reality TV series My Next Act, which delves into her post-divorce struggles after leaving ex-husband Cory Hardrict; the twins are set to debut in 2023

In the clip, the star, who rose to fame in the late ’90s with Tamera on their sitcom Sister Sister, doesn’t explain what drove the wedge between her and her identical sibling.

Elsewhere in the segment from her show, which premieres October 4 on We TV, Tia opens up about her and her ex Cory’s first red carpet meeting after their split.

While attending the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards event last March, the two awkwardly bumped into each other.

Footage from the scene shows the ex-spouses hesitating for a moment, unsure whether to hug or shake hands.

Tia, who has a 13-year-old son Cree with her ex, as well as Cairo, called the ordeal “exhausting.”

“It was taken out of context and it went viral,” she said of the brief reunion.

“People are so eager to know what happened and why it happened that they try to create a story in their own head and then put it out there,” she said of fan speculation.

The mother of two said the rumors about her divorce were making her “mentally ill.”

After filing for divorce in October 2022, Mowry returns to dating in the new series.

Tia filed for divorce from actor Cory in October 2022; in March 2023, Hardrict shared a photo of them amicably reunited with their children.

Meanwhile, Tia’s sister Tamera is happily married to her husband Adam Housley, 53, a journalist and winemaker from Napa, California.

The two married in 2011 and have a son Aden, 11, and a daughter Ariah, 9.

To celebrate her children’s first day of school earlier this month, the proud mom posted a photo of them on Instagram.

In a caption to her nearly 12 million followers, Tamera wrote, “First day of school vibes! Aden is going into 6th grade and Ariah is starting 4th grade – where does the time go? I’m so excited but wow they grow up so fast. Who else gets these feelings this time of year?”
